Should be an interesting season in 1A, hopefully our form will pick up and we can put a good run together. Alot the team have played together since under 12's so they are quite tightly knit, and had a bit of success. So it should hopefully be a quick return.

Promotion from Div 1 a will be between.
Summerville, Wembley, Corbally, & Abbey (if they can keep some of their players)

    I agree.
They had only a panel of 15 "A" players last season and of that 15 i'm nearly certain the following will happen.

John Barry, Pa Barry & Thomas Butler (all to Star, as Pa Boland has taken over)

Daithi O'Donoghue (confirmed) Ger Collopy & Pa Moloney (all to the Boro).

    Peter Clarke (to Hill Celtic).

Pa (Who) Moloney (to Caherconlish or Herbertstown).

That's a total of 8 from 15, and only leaves 7 players from last season's squad!!!!!!!!

Was talking to John clifford the other night and it looks like he is off to star as well as most of the other abbey players..Think graham carey is going back to star as well....Star could be strong contenders next year as well!!!

Night owls is on a friday and saturday night and sometimes a monday night to answer a question asked there recently!!

Did not take long for Abbey to fall apart, shame because they looked like they had the bones of a good team.

I'm not dis agreeing with u there gentle ben but most of the players were treated very badly at abbey...well from the abbey players i was talking to anyway....Thats why most of them are leaving and to be honest i don't see them puttting a team in next year and if they do it will be mostly b-team players

    Foot.ie!

It's been confirmed that Walla (Abbey A manager last year) has stepped down due to not having enough of last years squad staying.

New man in charge is Tom Keogh (Abbey B manager last year), and ruomour has it that all he will be left with it is approx 10 B players to sign.

If this is the case then Abbey will be lucky to stay in Div 1A.

Abbeyvale. - If my memory is corrcect and I might be wrong on this. You probably know a bit more about Abbey than I do. When they got promoted last year the got rid of the Manager(dont know his name He is now with Geraldines I think)It seemed very tough on him as he had out most of that side together.
Its seems as if it is coming back to haunt them. Also as a club its a bad sign if is true so many players a leaving them after being relegated. You would think that they would give it another go and try to get back up. Its now that the club needs these players.
I suppose thats wishful thinking in this day and age. Players are moving around so much there is no such thing as being Loyal to a club.......

    Twinke Toes,

Ger Ryan was the former Abbey manager who got shafted in place of a rookie who has now jumped ship. He is a very honirable and decent man (Ger Ryan) who in my company never once criticised Abbey for their actions. Players will come and players will go, Clubmen like him are irreplaceable.....they deserve all they are getting right now.

    Are you a winger?

I'm sure there will be 2/3 weeks of midweeks games as per normal. Too early to predict who is going up. Corbally were most impressive in the second half of last season and could have made an impression in the Premier if Granville hadn't pipped them with their usual late run. It looks like they (Corbally) are going to lose a few players though and might not now be the force. Abbey will undoubtably struggle. At this stage, I will plump for 2 from Summerville, Star and Wembley......will give 2 definites before a ball is kicked in anger though....lets see how the various signings pan out first!

Thanks Bonovox. Could not remember his name. Have come across him(Ger Ryan) a few times on the playing field. Always thought he was a good one.
By the way what do you mean "am I a winger"

Hi twinkletoes......I am trying to determine from your name that you might play on the wing? I have never heard a centre half called twinkletoes :-)
