I dont have a clue what your talking about. Who is Mary Dempsey![]()
Sorry, I'd had a few when I started the thread...
On the bus from Ayia Napa to the match a load of lads started singing songs and changing the words to fit in "Mary Dempsey"..
We all dream of a team of Mary Dempseys...
Are you Mary Dempsey in disguise?
Who the **** is Mary Dempsey?
You're not Mary Dempsey...
You get the point...
Was just wondering if she was a cult figure back home.. I've been exiled for a few years and thought she might be an EL legend or something.
Prob just one of thier friends Id say, just taking the pi$$ like.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
Yeah I thought so too, just thought I'd check![]()
Maybe some wreck sitting down the back of the bus???
Sitting pretty!!!
haha, nah, there were only 5 women on the bus, all of them lookers![]()
Well that depends on how much you drank, but then again, maybe you subscribe the the Cosmo school of thought on that particular topic!
Sitting pretty!!!

I was on that bus too and I asked a couple of lads who the **** was Mary Dempsey. This was the response. There was a guy on the bus who Name was something Dempsey however his sister had told all the lads before they headed out that his second name was mary. So far a laugh they decided to rip the **** out of him on the whole trip. Hence the songs etc. Most people who were singing it were like me and did not even know who mary Dempsey was

Nice one.. thanks Neil. I can sleep easy now...
I know a fella who's middle name was Mary!![]()
Sitting pretty!!!
I think blokes getting christened Mary as their middle name has alot to do with whether they were born in a Marian year (a year proclaimed by the pope to be devoted to the Virign Mary). The first was in the mid fifties and the last one was I think 1987.
"I'd rather play in front of a full house than an empty crowd" Johnny Giles
that got me thinking guys,
the bus from Ayia napa to nicosia was the funniest hour of the whole trip. A crowd of lads from Finglas, coupled with our crew singing back and forth at each other.
"Your Ma's making money down the back" type chants. Hilarious stuff, craic that can only be had when away. 2006 is gonna be a lean year
