So you're saying Germany and Argentina are poor opposition. he scored twice against them both.

I meant the teams Australia play in general - Washington Island, American Samoa and the like. He has played well in their games, but he more than likely would not have started had Viduka and Kewell been fit. And Germany's defence (by their own admission) has been woeful. I haven't seen much or Argentina so I can't comment on them

    Question

What have the games been like? Raging I haven't been able to see them, my TV is sh!te, cannot pick up channel 5... glad Japan beat Greece... One team I'm wondering about, how are Germany playing, I know they've been doing well, but are they looking good?

Yeah, I know channel 5 is channel pish, but it is handy now and again as it does show the odd football game, and it is showing this confed cup.... Apart from that, it is the biggest load of kack on tv...

Games are great, goals guaranteed, nine goals from saturdays games, 4-2 and a 3-0, RTE 2 over here are showing them, there is some great football on display !

Germany beat tunisia 3-0 on sat, playing really well, but then again Tunisia may be considered weaker opposition.

What part of Scotland you live in? My sis lives in Aberdeen and she can't get Channel 5 either, though she doesn't complain.

It wasn't too hard to get when I lived there. The reception wasn't the best but it was acceptable. It was the lack of content that made it unwatchable

I'm in Glasgow, it is just because i have a real crap TV, it can't tune into it, i think the tv is too old, one of my flatmate's is leaving soon, and she's has the flat's spare tv and it is great, it's coming to me next! So annoying i am missing these games, just puts you in the mood for the world cup. i am glad argentina are on form, i would rather see them hammer brazil, sick of brazil winning i think japan will do well next year.
    cheers for info all...

Punditry sinks to a new low during Argentina-Germany, as Brian Kerr remarks that the fixture is "a big game for a Chinese referee to be given." The referee is Lubos Michel from Slovakia.

Can someone explain the relevance of Trevor Steven to an Irish football audience? Dolan, at least, is offering some insight. Nice to hear the views of a contributor who actually knows the game and whose footballing horizons don't end at Dover.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.

I'd never even heard of Trevor Stephen til he popped up on RTE. Riquelme's free was something else, Cambiasso's was good too. I can't stand Germany. I hope Argentina, Mexico or Brazil (if they qualify for the semis) win it.

Robinho is class. Played deadly last night, great player. I know, so did Ronaldinho.

I hope Brazil beat the Germans, that's all.

Leave Trevor alone. I met him at a function in Dublin last year and chatted with him for ages. A really nice, genuine guy. He gave me his e-mail address and we exchange e-mails now on various football matters. He is an agent for Steven MacLean, the Wednesday striker.

Isn't it better sometimes to have a neutral non-Irish view on things ? And why do you need an Irish slant on a game between Brazil and Japan etc ? He's usually only used when the Muppet and Giles are on holidays and would know a lot more than the Muppet about foreign players.

What a game by Adriano. Two great goals AND he put the Germans out. Bring on the match tonight. I say 2-1 Mexico.
