Kosavar Sadiki signed back at Harps this week aswell, good squad retention for us from last season which will hopefully help us
make a good start.....
Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
Dundalk looking to sign Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, ex Derry and was with Sligo last year before the season was interrupted by Covid.
Sligo fans, what was he like ? I can only recall his time at Derry, 2019, almost sure he ended up league top scorer, and with a low total of 14 or 15?
(edit, as per wiki he got 14 and finished one ahead of Hoban)

He only signed for them in the summer ahead of the resume after the Covid break. I saw him play a couple of games but don’t recall him doing much/anything in the games I saw but Sligo fans will be a better source of up to date info on his performances. 2 goals in 15 appearances doesn't look great though

Think Dundalk looking to use him out wide, if he signs.

Raiding Rovers backroom team! I'm not sure how the new club 'doctor' works as from reading this it sounds like an enhanced physio type department rather than a registered medic!? Unless the BSc is in general medicine but its not very clear.

Dunno if this was posted either.

Junior was only ok with us. Could see he has lots of talent but don’t think Buckley got the best out of him. Thought he was great at Derry the few times I saw him.
We could see that Oduwa had bags of talent and was a wide player. Unless the size of contract was an issue it seems a bit change for changes sake if another player with potential talent is brought in in a similar role. The number of clubs a young player has can be a red flag but I thought Oduwa could have been coached some of the basics without killing the flair. Maybe there is something of a proven track record in LoI with Junior, but its still a bit inconsistent player recruitment imo.
That was his preferred position with us. There was plenty of games where it wasn't working for Coughlan and there was an opportunity to chance the formation and to play Junior up front. It would have been worth trying but it didn't happen for whatever reason.
He's a good addition to any LOI team imo. Skillful, always gives 100%, set up chances, tough in the tackle, doesn't go down easy and doesn't seem to get injured (playing through an injury for us in one cup game). Bit of a Boco vibe to him in that he is a good player that gives you everything but goes where the money is season after season.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
He was absolutely fantastic at Derry I have to say a real fan favourite.
Will Patching will be joining Derry City for the season.
EDIT: Quite late on to be editing but don’t want to clutter up the place with 3 posts in a row. Also signing Marc Walsh from Swansea.

Peter Cherrie to Dundalk. A cult hero at Dundalk, played well when he first came, but seems to have declined around the league since leaving. Another senior Goalkeeper is due in as well (which is worrying).
I was hoping he would sign for Pats as backup keeper. Our squad has some decent players in it but depth wise is very thin.
With sentiment in mind i'm glad to have Cherrie back. Even at his age he'd benefit from full time training with the 'keeper coach. Reasonable backup (even 3rd choice depending on how the young keeper is) and an experienced player that should benefit the squad in general, maybe help out with GK coaching if he is doing his badges. With a 6'5 centre half maybe we wont panic at any high balls or crosses in to the box...

I`m not overjoyed by either GK at the minute, and heard a 3rd one due from Barnsley soon, not like they didn't know Rogers was into his twilight years. For now, I`d be swaying towards Cherrie.
Will still need to be convinced, but it was clear this was an area that needed to be water tight last season, even with GR there, amazed they have not gone for better quality. I`ll hold my hand up if either prove to have a brilliant season, and maybe I`m being a little harsh, both deserve a chance to prove themselves but if you are going for a league title, just think a more solid GK is required. We'll find out soon enough who is up to it, and if they can maintain the level required.
