What do you call foot.ie?

Usuallt foot, but sometimes foot.ie when talking to someone like Gareth, he gets very confused and you really have to spell it out to him!

I use "footie" if I'm talking to someone that knows the site, and "foot-dot-i-e" if it's someone that doesn't. "Foot-i-e" I can understand, but "foot" strikes me as a bit odd.

There's examples of both all over the place:

domain dropped - google, hotmail, yahoo, elevenaside, football365

domain kept - myhome.ie, u.tv, ryanair.com/aerlingus.com/etc, foot.ie (in fact, the airlines seem to push for the domain being kept)

But the ones that you're saying keep it, are the one's trying to sell a service on the sites. They're the commercial sites, and you hear them being advertised rather than joe bloggs talking about them?

Good point. The upshot of the advertising is that people do tend to say ryanair.com, etc. though. For organisations people will commonly say the <insert org name here> website, as in the RTE website or the FAI website.

Would you call boards.ie boards? Or boardsie?

Anywho, foot just sounds silly. Footie i get i suppose but couldn't say it cos that's what i would tend to call the indoor/astro games after work... Foot.ie for me. I agree about the phootball.com being too long winded (even though really it's just one word )
