1/10 performance second half.
As soon as I saw the team-sheet I knew we were in for a long evening.
We're at an all time low, and in fairness that isn't entirely down to Kenny. But I suppose at least fan expectations are reaching now that low, low level too. I think even under Stan the prospect of back-to-back defeats to a side like Finland would still have had the ability to shock.
1/10 performance second half.
we'll be told now how great Finland are.
i was happy enough with the speed and ability of the front 3 starting. But what was kenny doing bringing on brady and taking off Maguire? Surely the maguire switch was for Idah?
And you dont go 5 games scoring one goal unless there is something more fundamentally wrong. You'd expect a goal from somewhere regardless with players mainly playing in the premier league. We're clearly transparent, naive and blunt that the opposition can sniff it out.
Finland have contained us well over two games now, and we can't use the excuse of fitness this time - but no doubt the usual crew will be on shifting hte goalposts and moving them to another field.

Daryl Horgan's must be the most depressing and dispiriting call-up of recent times. So much for the brave new world of Stephen Kenny. it smacks of laziness, a lack of imagination and the kind old pals act that is so unfortunately engrained within Irish culture. I don't think I've been so eye-rolling unenthused and exasperated by an Irish player selection since Eddie Nolan was called up by Trap for the umpteenth time.
He's like a less technically accomplished James McClean without the fiery drive, influence, athleticism and ability to last more than 60 minutes or so.
And, atop all of that, he has the cheek to look a bit like Damien Duff.

No doubt it’s been a disappointing second half, but we’ve still had 3 or 4 clear chances.
Massively frustrating to give away a shocking goal, but when chances keep coming goals will have to eventually come.
Squad has had massive disruptions, positive is loads of players getting a chance in the new system. I still thing there’s more positive than negative. I’m not sure we’d have expected a lot more regardless of the manager? Maybe a home win and a draw here? But on recent form, even with a full squad that would have been a stretch.
Teams arent even in fear of us scoring in the last minute anymore.

How long will Kenny get? I'm not sure the FAI were expecting these results even if it was pitched as Project Restart. How good is their patience?
I want Kenny to succeed, but better football is meaningless without goals.
The only Irish person enjoying this will be Mick McCarthy, who'll no doubt have a wry smile on his face, just as he did when Ipswich went down.
Wondering that myself watching this. The World Cup is the golden goose. We have absolutely no chance of qualifying but the FAI will surely demand a decent run at it. If the bad run continues it’s curtains for Stephen. I just hope he isn’t the right man at the wrong time , id love him to succeed.
1 goal, 3 draws and 2 losses. Is that the worst start of a manager ever?
I'm not trying to do the hyperbole its a genuine question.
Finland had the beating of us handy enough over two legs.
For all concerned about the passing lets put that to the side for a minute, we've lost 2 games and scored 1 in 5, thats a massive worry. It's not just a case of it will click, its more than that. You can pass the ball around and create half chances all you like but again today we've created how many shots on target/keepers saved? 3/4?

Coming up on seven hours without a goal... What's our record?
Few players need put out to pasture. Robbie Brady was woeful. Hourihane anonymous yet again.
Randolph with an uncharacteristic howler can be forgiven but the whole defence switched off at the same time.
We're playing some lovely neat football, but there's too many slack passes, lapse in concentration, and not enough support or speed in attack.
It's so frustrating to watch us create chance after chance, but fail to even get shots on target from them, never mind goals.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Mediocrity epitomised.
No better than any other manager.
Out of his depth?
Will he last until the next WCQs?
Starting to be grateful we lost to Slovakia...
I suppose at this level you need one or two quality players that bring an International Team to a decent level e.g. If you took Wales's two best players out then are they much better than us ?
We need an unusually high amount of our young players to come good and 1 or 2 Very Good at that.
O’Shea ~ Hopefully but much too soon to say / Molumby ~ ~ he as a chance / Connolly ~ ~ he has a chance , Idah the same.
In International Football you really need one or two High Level to Very High Level Midfielders or its very very difficult !

He’ll be gone within 12 months at this rate.
If we weren't creating chances I'd be worried but we are. We're missing 4 or 5 starters as well.
It was gonna take time and a playoff win would've been great but there's enough of the right things happening.
