    New Potential Signing

Heard from a reliable source today that a former Northern Ireland U-21 international is over on a trial from Scottish Premier Division side Hearts.
He is a centre midfielder and could be in the team when the transfer window opens in a few weeks.

I think that we should be focusing our resources on recruiting a striker and not on a player that is not a neccesity.

I disagree we still have a long hard season ahead of us players will get injured. We will need a big squad with quality players if we are to win promotion

Murtagh latest recruit as Rovers strenghten squad

Murtagh spent two years on a professional contract with the Edinburgh club and featured regularly for the Hearts reserves. He moved on loan to Raith Rovers towards the end of last season.

Murtagh was captain of the Northern Ireland under-20 team which beat Brazil in the Milk Cup and has a number of caps at Under-21 international level.

“Conal will be here on a week-to-week contract until at least the end of July. He will be a good addition for us,” said the Rovers manager.

Murtagh can play in a number of positions, including mid-field, as a sweeper and also on the right.

Meanwhile, Connor is confident he can secure the services of top transfer window target, Brown.

Rovers have already had two bids for the 6ft plus striker rejected by the Irish League Premier Division outfit .

Brown handed in a transfer request when former Northern Ireland international, Tommy Wright, stepped down as boss at Limavaddy to take over at Ballymena United.

Connor will go back with another cash plus player offer for the frontman this week.

Brown scored fourteen goals this season, hit sixteen last term following Limavaddy’s promotion and found the net eighteen times in the campaign which saw United elevated to the top flight.

“Paul is the type of player I want to sign. I hope his club now allow us to speak to him. He has put in his transfer request and I would like to have him in my squad.

“He is tall, scores goals and would be a great asset to us,” said the Rovers boss. Birmingham City player, Chris Cotterill, is also due at the Showgrounds next month
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
