    Coming and going...

Brendan Hughes has apparently left Limerick FC.

Cillian Lordan is a target for Limerick FC with a fee of €3-4,000 expected to be neccessary to pry him away from Cork City.

    Thoughts?
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    Decent player and probably available.
Established himself at right-back last year and got a few European appearances i think but it looks like Richardson trusts experience and he now probably has Horgan, Woods, O'Halloran,Murphy and probably even Derek Coughlan ahead of him for a full back slot.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

    Unhappy Pity

I think it's a pity that brendan hughes is going..Good honest grafter ,Could be missed towards the end of a long season when injuries and suspensions kick in.Plus I think he is good enough for a place.

Pity about Brendan - always liked him as a player. I wonder will more follow because while NOC says the squad is small there are a lot of players kicking their heels.

Lordan is a good player. Stevo has gone off the boil lately, at his best he is better than Lordan IMO. I just wonder if a right full is the most pressing need. I'd reckon we need a solid holding midfielder but we are letting one go. Would that money encourage Brendan Sweeney back to the club?

By the way Risteard or City fans - whatever happened to Michael Nwankwo. He is not listed on the squad on the website though he did play in the last friendly with us before the start of the season. Is he available to Limerick? Fine player.

nwankwo did very little in the matches i saw him play last year although he was limited to substitute appearences...that said he would be welcomed to the limerick squad if he doesnt cost too much.

cant say i took much notice of lordan. o'mahony will come good again. he has the talent no doubt. in fact overall he hasnt been that bad has he? distribution aside....lets face it with kearns infront of him hes had a lot to do.

speaking of sweeney what is he doing now? he would be perfect for us. hold the midfield together and let barrett get forward.

Nwankwo was released a few weeks ago.
Brendan Sweeney (ex-pro?) is playing with Douglas Hall

I actually know Brendan Sweeney through my cousin - a top bloke and a very good footballer (apart from his antics against us !!). I know Eamon Collins when with St. Pats wanted to sign him when cork signed him and i was surprised cork let him go. Surely he'd be an addition to the limerick squad

Brendan would be a great re-addition. I saw him playing for Douglas Hall against Moyle Park in the first round of the cup and he was head and shoulders above. He is a student at CIT and may prefer to take it easy this year football wise. He should be playing eL though. Strange (but good) that Cobh didn't sign him.

On Nwankwo - I am sure NOC must have his mobile number stored!

I seem to remember him saying he doesn't have the time or will to commit to eircom league and wants to be left alone playing at a lower level. His choice, I guess, but shows a lack of ambition from a footballing perspective so he's best left alone imo.

If he is in his last year at college it would be difficult to travel up and down to Limerick or commit to a more onerous training scheme. In that context I think he is dead right and rather than showing a lack of ambition from a footballing perspective I think it shows a high level of maturity. eL football is not a long-term career path (especially at Limerick wage levels )

We had him again for the latter end of last season, I have to say I thought he went backwards since he came back, I think Henderson didn't fancy him, besides Clifford and Coleman are better IMO.

Brendan Hughes - No great loss
    Brendan Sweeney - Yesterdays man
Lordan - will provide good competition for O'Mahoney. Stevo needs a kick up the arse, and hopefully Lordan signing will be it.

Our biggest need is a ball player in the centre of midfield. If we could sign one, we'd be serious title challengers. Only other area i'd be worried about is centre-half alongside Finny. Not convinced by Wolfe, it could be our weak link in the long run.

Wouldn't agree with your comments about either of the Brendans to be honest.

Brendan Hughes hasn't hit top gear this year but Brendan Hughes at his best is a player well capable of bossing a game at this level.

Brendan Sweeney... I'm surprised at how short some people's memories are. He was absolutely outstanding for us two seasons ago and with a run of games under his belt he could be a star for us again. Put him alongside Tommy Barrett and you've got a good midfield. Brendan should be finishing his exams about now right? Let's hope he's back in when the transfer window opens, especially as Eoin Keating is out injured again.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

I think you've just identified the creative ball player that we need. To refer to him to him as yesterdays man suggests that he couldn't do a job for us which is incorrect. Brendan would be a great signing. So all I'll say is Danny "do it".
Limerick 37, its so shiny and new we dare not take the cover off.

No SLK, put him along side Tommy Barrett and you have a great midfield.
