Unfortuantely I didnt manage to get a copy of it - was looking forward to it so have to try and get my hands on it.

Youboysingreen is not a fanzine imo - more like one of those glossy magazines you get free in the star. Big disappointment

Hopefully I can persuade pineapple stu to bring me down a copy of the genesis reporter when he comes up to drogheda to say hello to his buddy mr doolin

I didn't manage to get a copy of it either, will you be selling back copies at later games?

As distribution was a bit of a farse really (but fairplay and thanks to all involved, it just needed a bit more time and organsiation) we still have a good few copies left although we made a slight profit.

We would be hopeful that fan groups in different eL clubs would be willing to sell The Genesis Reporter at their grounds. Ive PMed a few people from this site, but Im not exactly sure who's involved in what so I might have wrote to the wrong people.

If anyone is interested in selling The Genesis Reporter at their ground, or knows of someone who would, please PM me or email genesisreporter@yahoo.com

    A few ideas for you.

    1) It would be worth contacting the ROISSC. The various brqanches may be willing to sell them at their meetings.

    Dublin
    London
    West Midlands (Birmingham)

    For starters.

    2) Perhaps setting up a simple mail order offering. Perphaps foot.ie or other irish related football sites would allow you to use a thread or section of the site, set up a simple paypal account and bobs your uncle!!

    3) Just go and post on football message boards everywhere with details of the fanzine & how to go about purchasing it. - Remember every club has irish fans, be they EL, EPL, SPL or championship sides................

Best of luck and I look forward to getting hold of a copy.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

Genesis - Some good articles, poorly presented, thing was falliung apart an hour or two later.
You boys in green - good articles and very well presented. someone mentioned that a fanzine should not be glossy etc. Why not i ask?
Was on the website and they want fans to submit pics they would look very well in next issue. move with the times, back and white is gone

Just said its glossy, too like those free premiership magazines in the star on mondays.

Wasn't having a pop - maybe im just used to the rags and content of the Eircom League fanzines

That looked like was done by the Star. Too many adverts. Looked like commercial product & no mention of where profits were going...

Thats the point i was trying to make. But in fairness it is a good read and looks well but it ain't a fanzine in my eyes!! more like a glossy fans mag from the star

In fairness Mento I'm happy if you thought there were some good articles.

Black and white may be gone in your eyes, you might want glossy, but to be fair the costs involved are prohibitive.

I was one of the sellers on the day, I have to say it was generally well received, only a few people told me to fcuk off and most people seemed willing to give it a go.

I think Juniors comments are all good ideas, I think a bit more organisation will have to go into the next one (not knocking anyone), though there will be more time available.

If you look at the website www.youboysingreen.ie you will know that it cost a few bob for that website.
And of course the glossy print doesnt come cheap. The three involved pumped their own money in so there aint no profits. Ads covered some of the costs, certainly not all.
When pics are sent in, that's when the glossy finish will have it's advantage. Hopefully 48 pages by the French game. Best of luck to all

<Tiktok wonders what people thought of the u21 report >

Having 4 colour pages was something that the Genesis people thought about, but for the first one there was too much spondoodles involved and the Reporters only income is from sales so a few people had to put thier own hands in their own pockets to get the thing off the ground in the first place. Having 4 colour pages is something that will probably (but not deffinitly) happen. As most people throw the damn things away after the game, Im not too sure if thats a big deal though.

If there's not going to be a profit with YBIG though, surely they're not going to print it at a loss? I would assume that at somestage in the future it will be sold for a euro or 2 though. With the glossy pages it could well turn in to a rival to the official programme, as that can be quite cr@p sometimes, and at a fiver it aint cheap. (Dont know if you have inside info Mento, will assume not unless told otherwise).

Tiktok's comments about the organisation involved for the reporter is spot on. I was organising most of it & simply didnt have time to organise a network of people to sell it. Hopefully (with a bit of breathing space for a while) this will be sorted. Also, the next one wont be designed on MS Word so it wont look like that parish newsletter.

PS If we could have a full colour glossy fanzine, Id (personally) jump at it, I just wouldnt like to have Eamon Dumphy on the inside cover though

Troy. from what i hear it will be free for the next game and don't know after that. Obviusly the star sponsored a page and hence dunphy. Ads may cover costs and if so who knows it couldf be free for a while.

Heard that too, but if they want to expand its content and print run - unless this expansion is just going to be adds - then surely they will want people to cough up a euro or 2. Like I said before, it its going to be full colour glossy, then why not target it as a rival to the official programme?

[nit-picking]PS The Star had more than one page[/nit-picking]

Have to say, having seen the transformation of fanzines from cut and paste, black and white to full colour productions with adverts I'd take the former every day.
They tend not to take themselves too seriously, be clever and witty at the same time, the full colour glossy jobs seem not to know whether to be aimed at the 442 end of the market, the match day programme buyer or the fanzine reader.
Where am I now? I'm over here,
I've got those empty pockets and I can't afford a beer.
