    Half hour to go.

Let's not open the Carew Park, Westport United debate again.

Rightly or wrongly, Westport United will be crowned FAI Junior Cup champions, even if they don't deserve to be there, even if it's easier to win nowadays, even if anything. Congratulations Westport.

Can't believe that Westport were 9/5 and Crystal favorites at 6/5. Not complaining though so far! Come on Westport!!

Congratulations to Westport - when was the last time a west of Ireland club won the Junior Cup????

Great result for the progressive Mayo league too.

Sligo Rovers won it in 1928/29!

Galway Bohs got to the final in 1941/42

First time it's been West of the Shannon since.

For a town the size of Westport this is amazing.

5,314 people according to Census. To go to Cork, Dublin, and Limerick twice and beat all these teams. Amazing.

    Well done to Westport !.
Have to say Crystal were awful their game plan came unstuck badly.
Seemed that two teams turned up to play the final but only one team turned up to win it.
The Westport fans were amazing reminded me of the Carrick fans last year. It Carrick and Westport meet in a final in would be some occassion.
While appluading Westport have to say Fairview of previous seasons were a far better side. But "Port" have the cup and thats what counts.

Crystal started well looked the better team, but Westport once they settled played all the football. Their first goal was courtesy an awful goal keeping mistake their second a cracker. However thet got very nervy in the final 20 minutes and almost left a poor Crystal team back into it.
Will be interesting to see how both get on next season

    Congrads Westport

What an achievement for a rural club!, must say that when we lost 4-3 to Westport in the last 64, I didn't think they would go all the way!

I think Westport United deserve the cup this year, especially if you look at the draw they came through - beat 4 or 5 of best junior sides in the country - away from home!

Great to see Westport win, lovely town that loves its football, but nothing can excuse the headline on Aertel: "Westport shatter Crystal in decider"

The West usually refers to west of the shannon comprising Connacht and Clare. Limerick would be south west I suppose.

    Westport United's Great Achievement.

An absolutely massive achievement for Westport and thoroughly deserved considering the epic battles, both on and off the pitch. They bet esteemed opposition from some of the Junior Leagues strongholds and kept their nerves through the Semi-final furore and crucially, the final. A massive step forward for Mayo Football which can only serve to enhance the perception of our league and a great testament to a team with an admirable team-spirit coupled with some great individual talent. The very best of continued success to them. At least until Fahy Rovers get into the Super League.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the club!!!!!!!

From the tropics: belated congrats to Westport United. Commiserations to Waterford Crystal. Nice to see a new name on the trophy.
