It was a lovely goal hallelujah ! We have played well overall but have to maintain it in the second half. There was a thing at half time about floodlights going off , who organised it. I took it as suicide prevention campaign on first look.

Derry must be kicking themselves they were a couple of minutes away from being a point off a euro place (proabaly) and seeing pats win and shoot up the table just rubs salt in.

Delighted with that win. The performance was a vast improvement from our recent games. I think if we can avoid defeat against Cork & Harps then we will be ok for a mid stable spot. If Dundalk want Georgie Kelly back for their fixture back log then they are more than welcome. The best performances tonight came from Forester & Benson id give Benson man of the match.

Hopefully a decent game tonight between Rovers and dundalk, irrespective of the starting line ups.
A win for Rovers should cement the title, but a draw wouldn't change much.
It's a Rovers team expecting to win tonight which should bode well for an open game. dundalk are hardly going to sit back. Shields Vs Byrne again and whomever wins that battle will probably determine the result.

If cork lose tonight they will drop through the trapdoor, and may never return, in their current guise anyway.

Will Fenn be given an almost indefinite opportunity to rebuild even if relegated or is he likely to be on notice if relegated. It will be financially damaging to the club if relegated even if crowds were allowed back at games. It seemed to be the strong attendances that boosted Corks financial clout but if in the 1st Division? They will still have the largest average support in the division but its an ever decreasing circle situation and tbh the 1st Division has no shortage of seasoned promotion battlers currently so no easy task in bouncing back. How do you get out of it unless a manager shows that rebuildng on a budget is something they can do - and Fenn hasnt shown anything special in that regard yet. Or an injection of money to buy out of the cycle, and Cork are prudent on that, bar giving in to Caulfields demands which kicked off the slide and not likely to be repeated.

From double winners to foot of the table in a few season - should ground supporters who gloat to the extreme when top of the heap as clubs may not be too far from a fall off the perch!

Well, largest average support is no use if all the games are behind closed doors. Will that be lifted by the start of next season? It's still six months away, but the signs aren't great.

I know I've said before that there's no point singling out any club for trouble in the covid period, but Cork are losing out on more than most (high gate receipts and ancillary match income, and no European money to tide things along), so they can't be in a good place at the moment.

Shocking miss from the Cork forward there. Great chance missed.

McGinley is a quality keeper. Cork should have been a couple of goals up

The first bit of football that Harps have played and they equalise through their tub of curry. McGlade looks the only guy interested in actually playing football, but it's an intriguing game nonetheless.

Our keeper was man of the match and we made Cork look good (they're not!) sums that up from a Harps perspective,we still have to play all of the current top 4 and I wouldn't be very optimistic ..........

Maybe some of these Dundalk players should have had some more games this season judging by tonight's game so far. They've done well. Oops, jinxed that.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Must have improved since he was at Belfield; always thought he was a bit dodgy. I guess a couple of years of senior GAA can't have hurt?

Oduwa exciting enough going forward, a bit erratic, but offering zero defensive cover to Dummigan. He's getting destroyed.

I saw some comparisons made a few months ago of Dundalk signing Will Patching and Rovers having Jack Byrne. Looks a terrible shout. Patching has been dreadful in the first half, lost his man for the second goal, then gives away a penalty for the third. Looks overweight, which is something you don't associate with Dundalk players.

Despite it being Dundalk's second team, there's a lot of absolute garbage signed that seems below their usual level: Journeymen like Oduwa, Josh Gatt?! Patching.

Made ten changes from Thursday apparently. Just left Shields, who's suspended. I know Thursday's important, but LoI sides - especially the fully-pro ones - surely need to be able to play Fri-Thurs-Sun? You'd have thought a match against Rovers would be better prep for Thursday than a training session too

Dundalk didn’t get their request to have tonight’s match postponed , so response is To act like a petulant child and field a weakened team , whilst understandable from their financial perspective , assume like any other league FAI will hit them with a substantial fine for deliberately fielding a weakened team, otherwise the integrity of the league will be damaged.... and we all know from their earlier bleating about the shortened league that Dundalk take that very seriously .... cue the usual ****e from the usual suspects plus a few from Bohs who’ll moan that this is costing them the league

Rovers hit Waterford at about the same time in the game last week. Could be 5 up by 55 mins, if this keeps up. Mad season for Dundalk.
