Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Gerard Lyttle ? How in hell has he got that job? Dundalk are a shambles (and this coming from a Derry man!)

If confirmed, remember Lyttle was an assistant to Magilton in the IFA Club NI (elite youth coaching) set up and are mates.

Had no idea that’s what he was doing.

Not a good sign for Dundalk mind Magilton just sticking a mate in there (and being allowed to do so) In no way can that be considered a good appointment.

Incredible to think of all the signings Dundalk have made from underage positions. First team manager, first team assistant manager and General manager all came from a juvenile job with the goal of stepping up to become a European club in Ireland. It's a bananas way to try to raise the bar

Local radio, LMFM now confirming FG and his assistant Rossi have left, and told the players this am.

Still nothing confirmed from DFC yet on all 3 leaving, or even Keegan on Friday.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Is there room in Oriel on the Sean Connor wall of fame for three more portraits?

Watched an after match interview with Magilton. I wouldn’t particularly like the cut of his jib , he comes across as an abrasive character.

I’m a fan of Cawley he is a decent bloke to talk to , but IMO this is Hyperbole.

I have to say - I'll miss Filippo. He was a colourful character with lots of charisma. (When my wife first saw hm on TV, she said 'Who is THAT!?') He definitely brought a bit of 'oomph' to the league. I wonder how his career will pan out now...

The Italians are a colourful race of people always a bit of craic. He was an interesting addition to the LOI for his short stint and will be remembered, along with such names as charles livingstone mbabazi , Mindaugas Kalonas , Steve Lynex etc

Tbf to Magilton, after 20 years as a player in England (500+ games at a decent level, plus 52 caps), he also managed Ipswich and QPR.

And Michael O'Neill rated him highly enough to take him first to Shamrock Rovers, then to the IFA.

And his last job at the IFA was as a Director (not a coach), which presumably relates to his new job as "General Manager" at DFC?

Which doesn't necessarily mean he was very good at all of those jobs, but as CV's go, he at least merited consideration.

I have never nor will I ever allow facts to get in the way of sticking the boot into a falling successful club!

You're absolutely right though, he's had a good career and has been employed by much bigger clubs than a lot of LOI managers have.

I think he's fairly spot on in fairness. Dundalk have nothing to show for their Euro millions, and are showing close on relegation form for the past half a season or so. It's a really worrying position for them.

I wouldn’t necessarily tie a sporting legacy to facilities. I know a clubs stature is linked to its facilities but players achieve things on the field. I’d agree that Oriel is a dump as are many grounds in the LOI but it doesn’t tarnish their sporting achievements.

Interesting to hear him talk about having a good relationship with the owners and still speaks to them. When everyone thinks he was shafted and the owners were interfering

The sporting achievements are a legacy of their own of course and can't be taken away. But they could have built a more solid foundation for the club with the money they earned. Shels' football legacy is great too, but it's not doing them much good now
