Danone Cup Qualifiers: The North and West Regional Qualifiers were held on Sunday June 12th at McSharry Park, Cranmore. The Sligo Leitrim Qualifiers, Boyle Celtic, were up against 8 other League Representatives, and the prize on offer was a place in the National Finals at the A.U.L. Dublin on June 25th. Boyle were again impressive in the first Phase, beating Buncrana (Donegal N) and Ballymahon (Longford) to top the section. A fantastic day for the Celtic lads continued, as they battled through to win both the second stage games, also with a 100% record. First up was Kingscourt (Cavan), with a winning goal in the last minute. Second was Dunloe (Donegal S) and an early goal followed by stubborn resistance saw great scenes . All at Merville United wish Boyle all the best in the finals, and lets hope that Kieran has to dig out the passport!

Just got the fixtures for the finals, and as usual it is a balls up! Imagine bringing teams of kids up from Kerry Sligo etc for one game lasting half an hour

Based on the format for the finals it looks as though they have seeded the teams and kept the big two Dublin teams apart, St. Kevin’s Boys and Belvedere. It is a straight knockout
Games are as follows:

11am – Round 1 (Knockout)

A. St. Kevin’s (DDSL) vs Aisling Annacotty (South West)

B. Belvedere (DDSL) vs Park Celtic (South Dublin)

C. Kilreen (Cork) vs Boyle Celtic (North West)

D. Trim Celtic (North East) vs Clonmel (South East)

1:15pm – Semi finals

E. Winner of A vs Winner of D

F. Winner of B vs Winner of C

2:15 – Final
