    Wexford FC v Cabinteely

Draw a reasonable result in well-contested game in Ferrycarrig tonight but one in which both sides found it hard to trouble the opposing keeper. Wexford started with Tom, Dan, Jay, James, Craig, Charlie, Conor, Karl Manahan, Kaleem and with Jack playing behind Ola up front. Wexford shaded the first half but there wasn’t a lot in it. On 12 minutes, James Carroll got on the end of a Wexford free inside the Cabo box but a free-out was given. Cabo’s only decent effort in the first half came on 14 minutes when a powerful shot from inside the Wexford area went a couple of yards over. On 27 minutes, Conor Crowley of Wexford had a decent drive on goal which former Wexford keeper, Corey Chambers, had to parry back into the danger zone. Just on the whistle, Ola Adeyemo had a free which he smacked a couple of yards over the Cabo bar. 0-0 at half-time with Wexford probably over-hitting the long ball with too much pace and not enough direction, while Cabo persisted in plying first-time balls in the air which were meat and drink to Jay and James at the back for Wexford against an energetic Shane Barnes looking lonely up front for the away side.

Second half continued in much the same vein with chances very hard to come by. On the quarter-hour, Wexford’s Jack Doherty picked up a yellow for a tackle and, on 19 minutes, a snap shot for Wexford from inside the Cabo area was ballooned over Corey Chambers’s bar. Midway through the half, Cabo also picked up a yellow before a Cabo forward, stretching at Wexford’s far post, just couldn’t convert a low cross travelling at speed across the Wexford area. Best chance for Wexford fell to Kaleem Simon on 27 minutes when facing Corey Chambers at an angle inside the Cabo area, but the latter was able to get down and save. Corey Chambers then got down bravely to save at the feet of Jay Nwanze, making an impressive debut for Wexford, before Cabo spooned what looked like a good chance over the Wexford bar in injury time. So, 0-0 at full-time with both sets of central defenders doing well on the night. Good to be back all the same.

Cheers Forza for doing us a favour last night as we beat Athlone 2-0 tonight! Think we are 3 pts behind Cabo in 2nd/3rd place now. Think we are behind Drogs on GD. We will have to return the favour sometime!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
