    Eircom League Publication

Just wondering if there was ever a proper Eircom League magazine in the shops. Like shoot or something. I know if there was such a thing and if it covered fully the domestic game that I would subscribe to it in an instant. I havent seen one in shops or ever see one advertised on tv except for the eircom league guides that come free in newspapers at the start of the season.

Has anyone ever tried getting one going ?

There was a really good one in Cork last year, called Spotter, but AFAIK this has stopped. There's now a Munster Soccer one down in Cork, also good, but only covering Munster.

TBH, there really is not the demand, or the funds, to warrant such a publication. IMO, it is up to the FAI to subsidise a clear marketing opportunity.

cheers. I agree the FAI would need to subsidise such a thing but not to run it. If they had one the emphasise would be on Dublin Teams mainly. Nothing wrong with that but the FAI dont look beyond dublin. It's just a habit they are in.

How many subscribers would be needed for it to be a success do you think?

i've no idea what is cost's to produce a few thousand publications of magazine quality. I suppose someone would need to set it up as a side business that would get grants or something to cover professional costs. i know just from doing websites that it takes ages so cant imagine what size setup and effort it would need to be successful.

There used to be Eleven A Side and Irish Soccer Magazine which covered the eL but did international stuff too.

I guess the nearest thing you'll get to one will be "The Genesis Reporter", on sale around Lansdowne Road this Saturday
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
