Harry Taaffe was a giant of a man whose presence was everywhere in and around the club. His official role was Videographer, but in truth Harry was the sort of character who found the jobs that needed to be done and just got on with doing them.

He will be sorely missed for his huge personality. Harry was great craic and a smashing man

Perhaps it might be more appropriate to amend the thread title to something less impersonal

I didn’t mean any offence with that , when I saw he was missing I though it best to put up the article. If a mod can change it to RIP Harry Taaffe it would be for the best.

Gutted by this news! Apart from the occasional chat about Dundalk and Oriel Park, Harry went to the trouble to help a couple of us in Netanya when playing Macabi Tel Aviv. The person who had our tickets was in the ground and as any of you who have been to Isreal would know, security is super tight so the ticket holder wasnt having too much success in getting the tickets out to us. We mentioned it to Harry as he was entering the ground and he went and got the tickets for us. As part of the backroom team I'm sure he had enough to do already without us adding to things to do. His helping us was always very much appreciated! RiP Harry.

I know you meant no offence - it was entirely appropriate to not name anyone at the point you posted.

Apologies if you thought I implied otherwise

Very sad news I didnt know the chap at all as I havent being in Oriel in a good while but Im sure that me and my comrades at Longford Town FC would like to send our condolescences to the family and friends of Harry. May he rest in peace.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Hard to believe H is gone.
He was a friend since childhood.Witty, disarming, genuine, true friend, salt of the earth - just everything about Harry was good.He will be sorely missed around Oriel,O'Hanlon Park and in the wider Dundalk,Republican and LOI communities.
    Rest in Peace a chara.
