Thumbs up Sligo land Longford test

Sligo Rovers, who dumped Premier Division Finn Harps out of the League Cup at the first round stage earlier this week, have been paired with holders Longford Town in the second round of the competition, which takes place later this month.

The Bit O’Red advanced past north-west rivals Harps courtesy of a single goal from Bolivian striker Carlos Alvarez.

They will face a difficult test against undisputed Cup kings Longford, who won both the League Cup and FAI Cup crowns in 2004.

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Yep great draw alright and should be a tough test.IMO a club like sligo should be in the prem division as they are much bigger that other prem clubs i won't mention.Really looking forward to this tie.

I'm really looking forward to this one as well. I was at the pre-season encounter with yourselves, I think we gave you a good game that night. It has the potential of a great cup match. We have a good team this season, and meeting yourselves at this stage, will show how far we have advanced.
I'm sure you will do well in the cups again this season. It's been too long since we met in competition. Hopefully this is our year to reach the Premier.
I have scattered my dreams underneath your feet, tread carefully, cos it's my dreams you walk on.
