Derry, Sligo and Monaghan advance
Monaghan United, Sligo Rovers and Derry City advanced to the second round of the the eircom League Cup tonight.
Monaghan secured a 2-0 victory over Athlone Town.
Carlos Alvarez scored the only goal of the game in the closing minutes to give Sligo a 1-0 win over premier division Finn Harps at the Showgrounds.

Second round draw to take place on Thursday
The eircom League have confirmed that the draw for the second round of the eircom League Cup will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at the FAI headquarters in Merrion Square, Dublin.
The remaining 16 teams are loosely organised into four regional groups of four. However, after this round there will be open draws until the completion of the competition. Second round games will be played Monday 20th June and/or Tuesday 21st June.
