Limerick attracting the crowds
Fans make Limerick FC one of the best supported sides in the League
by Bernard O'Neill
Limerick FC are being credited with helping to raise the overall attendance figures at eircom First Division matches this season. An FAI official confirmed that the Blues were one of the two best supported sides in the First Division - and were also better supported than at least one Premier side.
The official declined to reveal the exact attendance figures for clubs in both divisions or the identities of the clubs in question but said that Limerick's gates were averaging out at over the 1000 mark for home games.

Surely the attendances can only get higher as the season progresses? Can we expect to see a gate of 2000(or more)at Hogan Park this season?
If anything, the crowds are getting smaller, which is a shame as Limerick's results have been geting better.
i think we can yea. There were 2000 the irst night against monaghan but after that the games have come in around the 1000 mark and bad luck with the weather on three occasions now has cut our gates from going well over that. so roll on the good weather and hopefully continued aloftness.Originally Posted by Castle Barracks

I believe the size of the crowd on the 1st night was mainly due to the fact that it was Good Friday & also the curiousity factor with it being the 1st home league match.
The weather over the last few games has affected the gates but the word about the team, their results & the fact that its not a bad way to spend a tenner is getting around.
People who never went to matches will come along just for the curiousity of it & if the results keep coming they will get hooked.
Things will only get better I feel.
