McGrath just got Flintoff. 21-5, all taken by McGrath for 7 runs. 3 clean bowled!

Boom boom, some of my London mates were bleating all morning about what an ashes it's going to be. I didn't realise all 5 matches would fit into the 1 weekend if it continues like this. Ha ha...
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

Mrs PP loves it. Me, I have a silent chuckle to myself whenever "England" have a batting collapse. Today was one of those days.

Langer, aptly named, has just thrown away his wicket cheaply, brilliantly run out by Pietersen, England's star Sth African!

Aussies have failed to capitalise on McGrath's brilliance yesterday. England still right in this game.

47-1 at lunch, hope Hayden and Ponting only have a salad, they need to build a big lead and rip into England tomorrow or Sunday if it goes that far.

And as easy as that the Aussies go one up. Wonder will it continue into the summer like this weekend? I've backed OZ to win 2-1 over all. Warne gave some exhibition on Saturday, deadly response by him and McGrath to the allegations of being too old.

I'd expect there to be results in all games, given the batting/ bowling perfomances on show in the first test. Too early to call really - if England can survive the press sledging that's going on, they should still be in the series. Catches still win matches....

Going back to widening test status, there's no reason why Ireland, Scotland, Bermuda etc. can't play four-innings games against each other in some sort of Division 2 with Zim and the Desh.

As for Joyce, he has a chance to play for England this winter- they're off to Pakistan. If the politics don't scupper it, should be a good 'un.

The Larrikins to win this one comfortably though...

    Second Test

Good day for England with McGrath injury, not bad with the bat either. I suppose it should be all set up for a draw.

I was still at home this morn when the news of McGrath broke so I lamped Eng at 3/1, now 6/4.

England 407 All Out. Not bad but they'll need the weather to change if they're to bowl the Aussies out tomorrow. Big day for England's attack, early wickets will be vital.

118-3 at lunch, good start for England, had em at 0-1. A few wickets right after lunch would do a lot of damage.

Terrific day's cricket so far. Flintoff whacking sixes all over the shop with a damaged shoulder exemplified what I once read described as "the ridiculous public school heroism of cricket."

    England win by 2 runs!!!!

Massive comeback by Australia, only watched the last couple of hours this morning & must say longer it went on England didn't look like doing anything. Lee got 43 runs which was excellent.

England seemed to adopt battering ram tactics & came off for them in the end when ball hit Kasprowicz's glove.

Seems win was more fortunate then i thought at the time...

    BBC:
TV replays showed that the dismissal should not have been given, Kasprowicz taking his lower hand off the bat before ball hit glove.

Incredible game, must be one of the greatest games, for tension and excitement anyway, ever.

Gutted the Aussies didn't get the win.

Apparently England were 1-100 on to win on the Sunday. Did no one see the Liverpool comeback ? Always expect the unexpected in sport.

Classic stuff. Warne looked so comfortable until he decided to walk on his stumps. Runs were leaking all over the place. Panic was in the air. The fans were biting their nails.

Great sport and a great advert for cricket. Glad England won to keep the series alive.

That was unbelievably exciting. After the first 10 mins yesterday morning I sensed Warne & Lee were really onto something. That was sporting drama at its absolute highest, even up there with Liverpool in Istanbul.

The series is wide open now.
