this is a team of players ive seen play only been going to see rovers reguarly since 97 so this team will reflect that

    broujos - was underrated

rossiter - ccant think of anyone better.
charles - pure class in every game during 98 -99 season
mcnamara - been great this season.
hutch - mainly for his first spell at the club

    Birks - hard man supreme!

cretaro - best player at the club since the day he joined.
Heffernan - we have had loads of bad wingers . hes been one of the exceptions

o grady - undevalued when he was here first , vital now.

mcternan - like him or not he knows how to find the net.

moran - had his many critics especially on the old yahoo board but the man was quality for us.

1.Nicky Broujous-Always gave 100%, he had his detractors, but in my opinion he was great and should have been used more. That player of the month award he got was great back in98 I believe?

    2.??

3.Mark Hutchinson-This was between Hutch and Ian Lynch, Hutchinson shades it though.Always 100% commited.

4.Gavin Dykes-Was always consistant when I saw him play.

5.Wesley Charles-When he made his debut against Ballinamalard, I could see he was quality.Tried a bicycle kick that night too!

6.Conor O'Grady-Very talented, and again commited.

7.Steve Jones-Great player, proven his class now with Crewe.

    8.?

9.Padraig Moran-Excellent player, got his share of goals too.

10.Ian Gilzean-Great target man for the team, Could have been a bit more loyal though.Still, great player none the less.

    11.Again, ??

what about the great Johnny Kenny, plying his trade in the Sligo Leitrim league, who could forget his runs down the line at the showgrounds in 94.
Who put the ball in the Derry net.......Theres only one Gerry Carr.

Will Hastie was a class act in midfield that year too.

Annand was excellent, correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember him booting 3 or 4 goals for St. Pat's against us in the one game when he came back!!! He seemed to do fairly well in Scotland too.

Remember Ricardo Gabbiadini. He'd make the laziest all-time XI. He had serious skill, but i've never seen a player so bad for wanting it too feet or nothing.

Mitch, that was actually Ian Gilzean. He scored a hat trick on a glorious sunny day. Pats were quickly 4-1 up, as Gilzean tore rovers to bits, but rovers got it back to 4-3 and could have equalised. Annand never returned following his departure to Clyde.

    RE: Johnny Kenny

He's just different class at Sligo - Leitrim Level. He'll be playing in the euro tab final on friday, same time as rovers game though Most exciting player i've ever seen in The Showgrounds.Scored one of the best if not the best goal seen at the Showgrounds against home farm when the lights were turned on.

I have gone for a 3-4-3 (based on players from 1980 on)

    Broujos
Dykes - Rutherford - Declan Boyle
Johnny Kenny - Fago - Martin McDonnell - Harry
Annand - Ski - Padgraig Moran

    Subs
Fred Davis, Dennis Bonner, John Nolan, Gilzean, Hastie, to name a few

There have been a few players who only played a season or less but were talented - Keith Gilroy and Tony Kelly (class goal vs Bohs)

    Best Goal
Eddis Annand vs Kilkenny (or Waterford) - Pick up at half way line flick over the head, beat a couple of defenders and chips the keeper

    Ollie Keoghs goal in Tolka

Just as well he didn't sit in front of ye or he'd block the whole family's view of the game.

Thirty Yards and top corner.............he was slightly weighty scouser but a class act, he used to play for Bolton Wanderers, but I think he was a lover of the bookies and was known to have a drink or too...........................ahhhhhhh they don't make footballers like they used to................

I remember he went ''missing'' the weekend of the Aintree Grand National....I think we had just played Dundalk, and we had either won or lost 5-0
