    St Rafa of Merseyside???

Surely this man should be canonised. He has just won the most prestigious club competition in World Football by picking a team that included:

Jerzy Dudek(wonder save aside, he's basically muck)
Jimi Traore (need I say more)
    Igor Biscan ( as above)
Vladimir Smicer ( Anton Mannering...Limerick fans will know what I'm on about)
Harry Kewell (I'd play Chandler Bing first)

5 puddins in a squad thats won that.......move over Ratzinger...

You left out Milan "head down, runs fast to corner flag" Baros.

I said it before the penalties in the FA Cup that Man United had the better penalty takers, but Arsenal had a far superior keeper, and one who was on his toes the whole game so was better prepared mentally for penalties. Same deal for the shoot out last night.

Congratulations to Liverpool and their manager. Made me so proud to see Finnan, a Limerick native, with the trophy.

Makes the victory even sweeter. How long did it take Ferguson to win the trophy with United? Rafa's done it in less than 12 months. Never mind the hype, the PLC, the Megastores its about the football - as winning the European Cup FIVE times proves. Fantastic night.

I reckon with the money the club will get for winning the CL and for Gerrard (I still think he's going to leave) Rafa will spend wisely and bring in three or four top players during the summer.

IMO these are the players that should be first in line to be shown the door

    Dudek (too inconsistent)
    Traore (woeful defender)
Smicer (going anyway by all accounts)
Kewell (words can't express how much I loathe this waster)
Baros (simply doesn't score enough in the EPL)
Nunez (woeful defender and crap gouing forward)

I think Biscan has improved immensely this season and is a reasonable sqaud player.

Kewell signed his own death warrant last night. One of todays papers, the Indo I think, said he was booed off the pitch by the Pool fans. There was some choice words used to describe him last night I can tell you. I would be quite happy to see him go for a million or two. Benitez has given him every opportunity to prove himself and he never has; he's just not dependible.

Traore would be no loss either but he won't be allowed to leave unless there is a new left midfielder signed.

Smicer was leaving on a free regardless of how the season went. He is the same as Baros always does(did) a job for the Czech's but never replicated said form for the Pool.

Dudek won't be sold unless that Spanish keeper Reina (villareal) is signed as Kirkland is quite injury prone and the verdict is still out on Carson. What odds on Frey from Parma being tempted to Anfield?

Biscan will be allowed to stay. Benitez has taken a shine to him imo(yes I know he didn't play last night) and with Hamann leaving he will want to hang on to Biscan who has done well in the European games this season. Houiller fcuked that lad up by trying to make him a centre half and it will take a while but he's getting back to the way he was at his Zagreb days.

I wonder what players will be linked with Liverpool now? Aimar from Valencia seems a cert. Anyone else?

No problem. having won it this year I think it's time now to concentrate on winning the premiership and giving Arsenal, Chelski and Manu a shot next year at the CL

it was some come back i said it at half time liverpool would win it and got laughed out of the place ! , i knew milan would go asleep which they did ,
gerrard dived for the penalty , but milan players did try the same trick but it didnt work .

good to see any english team win it , the english league is nearly back to being the best in the world again after 85

well done liverpool , there would have been loads of scousers ringing in sick today if they had jobs
