    Possible red card for Shelbourne

    From North County Leader...

The planned Shelbourne Stadium at Lissenhall hangs in the balance this week as local councillors express reservations about suitability of the location, North County Leader can reveal. The stadium presents a major sporting and recreational development for the North County, in that the state of the art facility would be open to a number of sporting disciplines, and the most successful Irish soccer club would be centred in the North County area. Calling on North County residents to voice their support for the project to local councillors now, while there is still time to save the project, a spokesperson for Shelbourne stadium said "Swords is a town with limited sporting facilities and a growing population. Now, a small number of articulate local people are working the political system, lobbying councillors to frustrate the delivery of this sporting facility." The planned 25 acre site located 2 km east of the Lissenhall Interchange is to house two full size soccer pitches, 2 seven a side pitches, an all weather pitch, a full size training area, a clubhouse and facility centre, 578 parking spaces, along with the state of the art soccer stadium that will cater for 2,800.

Should be fine for average games but might have to share seats for big games.

Probably the initial planning seated area - standing may not be quantified. Shels would want to get an initial planning & then go in for planning again for each stand as the money becomes available - sensible & standard practice
