I reckon Kerr knows what he's looking for. A relatively low intensity game to get the cobwebs out and to give everyone a chance to gel again.
Not such a bad idea.
Like to know what people think about Ireland playing Celtic in a testamonial a week before our most important game in many years. No disrespect to the player involved but what sort of a workout can we expect as Celtic are playing in a cup final the day before. Would Brian Kerr not be better playing a team like Shelbournek, who would at least be trying to impress the Irish manager, than a team who will probably have been partying the night before the game. I think it is a little disrespectful to the Irish international team and their players to ask them to play in this. Maybe after the 2 internationals but certainly not before.
Always look on the bright side of life

I dont think Kerr wants a tough test, something a small step above a training session to get everyone back into it. No need to risk any injuries or over stretching the players at the end of the season when they will already be tired before the Israel game.
Well its not Kerr's testimonial.Originally Posted by drummerboy
Nah, its not even a work out. Its a mere training session at best. People like Moravcik, Boyd and Larsson are expected to play some part in the game. Its only a bit of craic.

No harm in it, a run out for the team before the big game next week, better than playing the U-21's or hammering some local side
Is this a reference to Man U's semi final game vs Newcastle ?Originally Posted by 2Olegend

Testimonials are kick abouts in the park and I agree it's just a work out for the lads before the serious stuff. No worries there.
Personally, I dont believe international teams should be playing a club team unless its a testimonial for a person who has played for both. Ireland playing in a testimonial for a scottish player is a TOTAL disgrace in my opinion.
