It's a disaster that it wasn't played last night. Not only was the opening day devoid of a live game, but now it's not being shown at all, on an awful day for weather.
I imagine with the Bohs Rovers game that the goals wont be on Soccer Republic which is a balls to say the least. Listening to it on radio one John Kenny and Paul Corry are on duty there.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Bohs down to ten, andy Lyons red card.
...Schwanholz, Herisau: a little bit of heaven...
He was on the PFAI training camp but didn't play in either of their games, not sure why, maybe it was injury related again?
He's currently doing a college course to become a physio. Absolute gent of a man and I'm not exaggerating when I say he's the greatest footballer to ever play the game
Last minute goal from Shamrock Rovers from Aaron Greene. 1 0 Rovers.
94th min winner for Rovers ...... normal service continues
Great to see us winning this match. Important to get 3 points in games like these. Deserved the 3 points but you often don't get what u deserve
Rovers really appear to get the rub of the green in terms of refereeing decisions in these games.
MD
I think I need a trip to the dentist. Cos that was sweeeeet!!
Fully deserved, the only team trying to play in a dog$hit pitch in farcical weather conditions.
Bohs thought they could foul Rovers into a rash decision but Rovers kept their heads and got there in the end.
Byrne is on a whole other level to anyone else in the league, it's just a shame he won't be around after July.
Next up the carkies at home. Should be a decent crowd there.
U having a laugh , two stone wall bookings today. We had a guy sent off last year for heading the ball as well as other ridiculous sendings off and penos.
Great win whatever about all that.
Waterford look like they could be very competitive and Derry as well. League lightened be the 2 horse race people were calling it.
Stupid comment by Corry at the start of the second half about Bohs not wearing a new kit because of budget constraints.
The whole commentary was biased. Two Rovers men but they could have tried to be somewhat impartial.
RTE cutting away from the game from 75-85 mins for a horse race and English scores updates was ridiculous too. Their whole coverage of the opening weekend was dreadful. Should have been showing Dundalk live last night as well as Rovers today.
In saying that the league's official social media channels hardly did much promotion either bar showing old goals all week!
Seemed a very reasonable comment - Bohs either don’t have the budget or are very poorly organised , I suspect both, also most likely too busy imagining ways to try and enhance their hipster club of the people profile rather than focusing on mundane matters such as player welfare .
huge scrap between each club's respective gowls on the main street of Phibsborough afterwards, which I'm sure we haven't heard the last of
As for the match, it was basically 21 men waddling around a peat bog trying to figure out what material Jack Byrne is using to attach the ball to his foot. He played one pass in the first half that was absolutely breathtaking. No-look, through a miniscule gap, and stunned to stop dead, luring the keeper off his line but right into Greene's path.
Don't really understand the complaints about the ref because all of the Bohs bookings were fairly clear, and I didn't really see anything comparably obvious on the Rovers side until Scales was deservedly booked at the end.
Everyone in the Jodi seemed to be hailing Kwardek as Bohs' best player on the day which was probably a reflection of the conditions as much as anything else because his physique and directness was ideal for a day like today. Thought the two centre backs performed better myself.
Rovers looked very solid defensively. Might have been a different story had Corcoran or Mandroiu started, (although I've never been fully convinced by what little i've seen of the latter)
Rovers will be encouraged by Greene getting a goal. Might not need the hatstand after all.
