What is interesting about O'Leary relative to our other keepers is his age, he is 28 this year and it is only recently he has put it all together consistently, and not many seasons ago he was a back up keeper pretty much, albeit at a decent level. He had plenty flaps / drops & should have saved moments & ended up back on the bench a good many times. Something to keep in mind when critiquing our younger ones maybe.

In fairness, while that's a good point, age is often mentioned when critiquing our other keepers (all three of them)

But there's no point picking keepers based on the players they might become when they peak.

Of course - you pick the best keeper available - and at this point I would think that's Kelleher.

    One is correct

Max McCann - played for Shamrock Rovers and got one cap in 1956 and scored (although, technically his name was James, he was known as 'Max' or 'Maxie')

Scored the first goal for an Irish club in Europe, for Rovers against Manchester United

Bit of a howler for Blackburn's opener against Bristol City this afternoon - a hospital short pass from the edge of his area which was snapped up. Still managed to blame his defence though; I like that!

Nothing he could do about the other two - super finishes both. Blackburn needed Szmodics' goals to avoid relegation last year - now they've lost him, they're unbeaten and in the top two. Football is strange.

(From Transfermarkt) 157 appearances in the EFL Championship. Average goals conceded = 1.22, clean sheets = 23.57%

If Bazunu isn't fit for the international(s) in March, O'Leary has to be challenging Travers for the no. 2 keeper spot. Since 17 August 2024, Travers has played 5 Premiership games, 17 Championship games and 2 League Cup games, 0 FA Cup games.
