    Wexford FC v Bohemians (friendly)

Wexford found Bohemians to be a couple of notches higher than the previous Premier teams they’ve faced in pre-season as they shipped a heavy defeat in Blanchardstown today although Wexford played well in patches. Wexford started with Jack Lydon, Karl Fitzsimons, James Carroll, Dan Tobin, Christian Crawford, Conor English, Conor Crowley, Cian Kavanagh, Charlie Smith, Kaleem Simon and with Sean Roche up front. First half was played in a howling gale although the wind did die down as the game progressed. Bohs looked the sharper and pacier as they dominated the game in terms of possession and chances. On five minutes, the impressive Ward of Bohs had a shot a yard wide. This was followed by an easy side-foot home by Dinny Corcoran of Bohs as he knocked home a low cross from the left. Wexford then had a decent spell without threatening too much and had their first shot on target on 28 minutes but it was blocked for a corner. Bohs got their second goal from an uncleared corner and then Dinny Corcoran got their third when he latched onto a low cross, took a touch and blasted past Lydon for 3-0 at half-time.

Second half saw one change for Wexford as Craig Giles came on for Wexford. Bohs again dominated the second period as they created the better chances. Dinny Corcoran firstly chipped over the Wexford crossbar when well-placed and Lydon in the Wexford goal pulled off a good save to push away a low Bohs shot. Wexford tried to play the ball out from the back but it’s a dangerous tactic against a team who are quicker around the pitch. Wexford coughed up two goals as a result of poor losses of the ball in their own penalty area led to easy goals for Corcoran and another goalscorer for Bohs. 5-0 to Bohs at this stage before Cian Kavanagh had a free for Wexford a yard wide and Conor English cracked a goal home for Wexford as the ball came to him again from a blocked first shot. An own goal from a Wexford defender as he faced his own goal and suffered from disorientitis made it 6-1. Further Wexford subs were also made in the second half including Lee Costello in defence and Kyle Cooke in goal. On this showing, Bohs look stronger than the other Premier teams that Wexford have faced in pre-season. Best for Wexford were Conor English, Cian Kavanagh, Karl Fitzsimons and Kaleem Simon with Craig Giles looking aggressive at left-full when he came on at half-time. 6-1 to Bohs at full-time.
