Hard luck to the rovers under 18's on their defeat to Belvedere in the FAI youth cup final on sunday. The game could have gone anyway. Rovers had a goal disallowed in the first half when the linesman adjudged John bellew to be in an offside position even though he didn't interfere with play . John maughan cooly rounded the keeper but unfortunately it was disallowed. There were appeals for a penalty also when Bellew was taken down inside the box by the centre back who clearly got nothing on the ball but the referee waved appeals away. Once the second goal went in it was game over though. Well done to the lads on getting to the final in what was agreat achievement for the club. Hopefully they'll be back again next year.

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
Hard luck Rovers youths. Lots of future stars for Sligo in the future though - hope you can hang on to them.
By the way, have Summerhill slipped since David Pugh left? They used to be such a force in FAI Schools when I was involved.
Haven't much info on the scene now.
no there still at it, won the connacht senior cup and i think the junior cup. Got knocked out very unluckily so i hear by a donegal team in semi final by A team they bet bout 6-0 earlier in the season
Thanks for that info, shedhead. Is David Pugh still involved with football at any level???
No, its mainly Mickey Feeney whos doing the coaching now.
Thanks man. What I meant was - is David involved with any club etc??? Last time I met him, about 5 or 6 years ago he didn't look too good and I heard he wasn't the best. Hope he's ok now. If you met him, he wouldn't recall me but I always found him an ok bloke. I used to really embarrass him when I told him he was one of my League of Ireland heroes from the 60s nd 70s.Originally Posted by Da Real Rover
