    New Sounds

Just came across this guy called Khonnor from Vermont,USA.Really sounds great,a bit like My Bloody Valentine, very atmospheric fuzzy guitar sort of stuff.Anyone else hear of this guy?
Also The Arcade Fire, something about them reminds me of Pixies,I know they're playing that Electric Picnic in September, they sound cool
Any other new sounds worth checking out

dunno if you seen or heard the lost in translation movie/soundtrack?? it's shields from m b valentine doing the ambient shoegaze thing.

m83 (french duo) use these classic synths and fuzz the **** out of them somewhat interestingly (but end up sounding a good bit like mbv)

o man if you like hip hop at all at all?? this album 'absence' by these boys from n. jersey called dalek: if you can download a track from them, they are like heavy hip-hop (non-gangster 'fronting' bull**** lyrics though) but basically have what sounds like my bloody valentine as a backup band. it's incredible if you can get into that sort've thing. great heavy beats underneath the bruising sky-guitarscape of shoegaze yore!

but i'd recommend comets on fire 'field recordings from the sun' for true psych/freak guitar-based mayhem before any of the above! it rocks harder and more intensely than most bands' stuff, aggressive and wild, so not for everyone.

and i dunno why no one's yet topped tricky's "maxinquaye" in that style yet

Arcade Fire (woohoo) great band. Very original to say the least, they were doing a gig in the Astoria i think it was last week that was meant to be amazing. Great album, definitely worth getting.

hmm dunno 'bout this, sound talking heads/bowie to me in many respects (a lotta bands seem to be looking late 70s/early 80s for inspiration these days). remind also of m. mouse, shins, new pornographers, indie guitar rock (TM). how they made album of the year on a few sites is ???
