Connolly gets more stick than he deserves because of the play off sending off and the spat with Don Givens. He was a fairly average player who in fairness despite having a poor attitude did always try his hardest when on the pitch. He's not exactly a world beater but the worst ever? no way.

What a ridiculous comment. FFS what is it with us Irish and slating our own. At least do a bit of research before posting about something you haven't a clue about. This is the view of a Dutch person:

I always get stick off my mates for this but i think Connolly is allot better than he's given credit for.

He has a very good football brain but unfortunatly doesn't have the talent or the stature to back it up.... Watch him more closely next time you have the opertunity and hopefully you'll see what I mean. He get into good positions and his link play is good, but too many under/overhit passes or attempts at skill he just hasn't got.

He made a big mistake turning down Sunderland twice...

Connolly is a decent Championship (still can't used to that) player, he scored loads in the last 3 season in 3 average (at best) sides in Wimbledon, West Ham and was starting to score regularly for Leicester towards the end of the season. Hopefully he can carry that form into next season. He could force his way into the Irish side, he's got to be ahead of Doc and Lee up front, but is probably behind Elliott in the race to partner Robbie, should Clinton get injured.
