Poor enough show against Levante but the donkey work had been done previously.
How Ronadinho and Deco weren't sent off before Half time beggars belief the former for a head butt and then Deco with an absolute horror tackle, lunged in studs showing and took the player right on the shin bone, could have broken his leg. Could have changed things.

Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?

Does anyone know why 2 Levante fans ran onto the pitch during the game? One of them looked like he was trying to pick a fight with Puyol, then tried to put a cap on him!!

Have to say been watching a lot of Spanish football on sunday evening, and Barcelona brighten up my sunday evening and nearly get rid of teh hangover. Some of the football they have played has been fantastic. Pity they did not beat Chelsea.

I didn't follow it up, but it surely was a couple of the ETA group of Spanish dissenters who are politically motivated. The ame gang who invaded the Pool v Chels game maybe?
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.

Kudos to Barca, good to see them back.

I don't like Real. Their racist support doesn't bother me as it's a minority of fans and I'm sure the true Real Madrid fan will judge their behaviour. My problem with Real is their president who treats a football club like a company and sends away a coach when the club, oh shame disgrace, doesn't win at least two trophies every year...

Still prefer Valencia amongst the top teams though. But Barca anytime rather than Madrid. My favourite clubs are both in third division...

Same here, Valencia would be my prefered Spanish side, spent quite a lot of summer hollidays there so have a bit of a soft spot for them. I remember the season before they lost to Munich in the CL Final, we went to the stadium for a tour, but they didnt do them, so they just let us walk in and onto the pitch, one of the grounds staff had a ball and they let us have a kick about for bout 20 mins ! quality stuff !

Not my favourite side, didn't say that ! My favourites are in 3rd div. But it was nice to see another side but the two giants battle for the title, and they got a very good squad.

And I also have excellent memories on Valencia, would even like to move there if possible (but employment opportunities are less than here...). Friends of mine, two Belgian men who lived next to the house where I spent my last holiday in the area, told me they'd check on the local employment situation for me, so you never know...
A friend in Canada would also look out for me... But first matter for me is making the most of my time in Ireland.

Neither did i - Valencia would be my prefered Spanish side. But your right Employment is not that great, but there are several world banks there who are always looking for Engilsh Speakers. One of my friends has been living between there and here for the past 3 years and has always got a job. Living there is very cheap as well.

Barca have been an absolute joy to watch all year. Themselves and Arsenal do justice to the way football should be played and deserve all the success they get. Sadly, it hasn't happened in europe for either of them as the more tactically adept coaches have won out, but Barca's time will arrive sooner rather than later. Rijkaard has a lot to learn on that front, but with Puyol, Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Xavi they've got four potential greats who can lead them to sustained success over a number of years. Credit to Laporta who has re-awoken a giant that was quickly becoming immersed in debt and managerial upheaval under Nunez. He had the foresight to appoint Rijkaard and stick by him after a thumping at Malaga before Christmas in 2003 and his decision has been fully vindicated. His cunning in playing Beckham off against Ronaldinho in the election run up was a stroke of genius.... and we've all seen the results

How did he get his job there ? I mean, did he apply for it when he was still in Ireland (maybe a job agency or website also having vacancies abroad for English speakers) ??

I know Madrid has many multinationals and they always need speakers of foreign languages, but the inland in Spain doesn't really appeal to me. I used to live by the sea in Belgium, Dublin's close to the beach as well, I'd miss the sea if I were in Madrid on hundreds kilometers away of the seaside.

India BTW has many international callcentres as well and they prefer employing Europeans with experience in that industry rather than giving the job to locals. So if anyone is interested in a job in India... Good economy (growing fastly) and as long as you're in the cities you get every facility you need.
I would love to go to Asia for a while, but for some reason it's mainly Mongolia that floats my boat, I find it an extremely fascinating place. Hong Kong as well is very interesting, though since the Union Jack made place for the Chinese flag the good times are over for us... Nowadays speaking Chinese is close to a demand of every company, while in the past they were giving jobs to people as well if they spoke only English.

But as I said, I first want to have seen the whole of this island. May go to Belfast for a while though as it is hard to save money in expensive Dublin...

On topic: what is happening at the bottom ? Kinda exciting battle against relegation... I hope Mallorca stays up, I like them. Always good for a stunt against the big teams, and a rather fanatic support.
What about Tenerife by the way ? They used to be so good and now it seems they won't go up again anytime soon...

My problem is the fact Beckham plays for them. Never thought I'd say this but well done to Barstardolona for keeping Mr. Spice trophyless for another season.

I'm a Depor fan myself for purely family reasons. Was over for the Pathetico Madrid game two weeks ago with another foot.ie poster. He was in awe of the stadium's location - across the road from a beach.

I forgot to mention Puta Vigo or 'the new shirts' for Real; taken from the first line of the Francoist 'party song' 'Cara al Sol.' (Cara al sol con la camisa nueva (Face the sun with the new shirt)).

PS: Mi amigito Aldini. My mother taught me the whole song as a kid.

Barcelona all the way for me, I can't stand Real Madrid, they remind me of Man U.

Lopez, is Spanish a difficult language to learn? It sounds difficult to speak!

I'm a Barca member. Girlfriend got it for me for Christmas. Always had a soft spot for them but the SEI went on a pre-season trip there in Feb 04 and fell in love with the place. We've been back since...

I'm not really the one to ask as much of it I spoke from birth. Two things that are pros and cons. Firstly the pro: Learn the pronunciation of letters and every word you read will tell you how to pronounce it (no though, through, cough, plough, etc.). On the con side are the extensive verbs with the inclusion of a subjunctive (If I WERE a rich man) and every word having a gender.
