We don't need Zac Knight. We have Cunningham, O’Brien, Dunne, Breen, O’Shea, Doherty, MacCarthy.
So he's been called into the English squad. I suspect this is a blatant attempt to get him capped by England and removed from any possibility of playing for us. We were a bit slow off the mark there. It's not that we're exactly awash with center halves at the moment. Plastic paddy he might be but can we afford losing out on these guys ?

Always look on the bright side of life
We don't want him. I remember him saying that the world cup was coming up and it didn't look like he was gonna get called up by england, so he might as well declare for ireland as he's not getting any younger.
FCUK OFF KNIGHT
Excellent news, pity more career oirish wouldn't suffer the same fate...
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Ireland reject, Ireland reject hello hello, Ireland reject, Ireland reject hello hello.
I suppose at least anyone else who has had a granny link has mentioned were they were from but this bumberclart just came right out and said it that we were going to be an international sub cause he couldn't get into the England team.
He won't be missed.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.
he has made the england b squad, and if he is lucky he might make the c team!!!
Upson had to drop out so he could make the squad, so he's behind Campbell, Ferdinand, Upson and Terry.
He's no loss at all, good riddance.
surely carragher is there?
He is Behind Ferdinand, Campbell, King, Carraghter, Brown Terry, UPson, Southgate and Woodgate too.
In Trap we trust
Cunningham will be retiring after WC 2006. O'Brien is having a mare of a season at Newcastle. Dunne is not our regular centre-half but will be if he keeps up his form (out injured at the moment). Breen is also on the wrong side of 30 and is at best an average centre-half. O'Shea and Doherty - neither is a regular centre-half in their club sides. McCarthy is only just starting his career at Leicester in the Championship.Originally Posted by drummerboy
Thus, while Zat Knight may not be the answer, we badly need more centre halves coming through and soon. From the feast of Jack's days to the scraps of today.
I am sure he has played for England at u-21 level and he would have to change sides before 31st Dec 2004. So would have Nolan, Gallen and the others.
Dont think we will miss him.
Miss him or not, we don't need more players that decide their Irish when they're not going to get called in to the England squad. Sod it if it makes the team weaker, better a weak team than a sham one.Originally Posted by Zidane

Delighted when I heard this. I don't think Kerr was gonig to call him up anyway but the less "last chance for international football" types in the team the better.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
And Ledley King and Carragher too, he probably wont make another squad.Originally Posted by tetsujin1979
Dont really rate him as a top class center back and in terms of the future I'd have Dunne, O'Brien, O'Shea and even the Doc in ahead of him. I've a feeling our real weakness in a few years will be central midfield.

He is obviously not a very clever boy.If he is looking for international stardom and is happy with this one maybe two cap for the Ingerland(he will get no Fcuking more) then so be it.We don't want or need someone like Knight,i rather put the doc there,He is total sh*te but his heart is in the right place.
