Looks a good deal better than the monolith in 2001-inspired PS2.
Not sure about the joypads, but wireless is a step in the right direction
Rumours of 2 versions of the console - one normal and one that has a writable blu-ray drive!
those shots of the console are fakes. the actual console probably wont look anything like that. that controller looks ridiculous, you'd really have to stretch to get to the R2 button.. i cant imagine sony messing about with the controller too much, the dualshock is a winner IMO
Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?
Here's a couple of actual photo's:Originally Posted by Ruairi

Won't be out here until after the World Cup at least.
Bah the controller looks cack. Why do they insist on making the most fancy looking but essentially useless controllers now? The old Snes one was the classic model, which the PS1 and PS2 basically added the joystick thingies and one or two buttons to and used it, why change?
The controller looks like a boomerang, which will be handy for them moments you throw it at the TV in frustration during a game

The 'missed a last minute penalty in the league deciding game in Pro Evo' moments you mean?Originally Posted by dublinharp
While the controller looks crap I'm sure it will be the most comfortable yet. My hands are too bloody big for the PS2 one that my fingers get sore after a while.

Sony unveils its latest Playstation
ELECTRONICS giant Sony has unveiled its new PlayStation 3, which it says has "super computer-like power".
The console is 35 times faster than its predecessor and uses more realistic graphics.
Unveiled in Los Angeles last night, the PS3 contains a powerful processor called a cell. It will be launched next spring but Sony has not yet confirmed when it will hit the shops.
It was unveiled just days after Microsoft revealed its rival Xbox 360 console. And Nintendo is expected to unveil its new product this week.
Sony launched the original PlayStation in 1994, followed by the PlayStation 2 in 2000 and PlayStationPortable in 2004.
PS3 is compatible with software used in its predecessors.
Ok, so it will probably hit the shops in late summer of 2006 which means we'll be doing well to get it before Christmas.Originally Posted by town73
I always leave it a good year before buying a new console anyway, firstly to wait for the prices to drop and secondly so I can sponge off my mates who buy them first and see which ones better
I was a nintendo man until playing GTA3 on it's own convinced me to go PS2.
It is a gem.Originally Posted by Slash/ED
