Yeah, Spain says there are "ongoing" negotiations. What exactly is being negotiated isn't really clear. The FAI are hardly going to offer POS a pay-out are they?

Edit: Sure let FC and United both in. We'll finally have a proper derby. What's that? Galway? Mervue, SD? Never heard of them.

It is ambiguous alright, and even if it is just for the right to apply for a license I can only imagine there will be another court case when it's refused.

In its proceedings, Munster Football Club Limited, trading as Limerick Football Club and represented in Court by Frank Callanan SC, seeks various orders against the FAI.The orders include an injunction requiring the FAI to take all necessary steps to permit Limerick FC to submit an application for a licence allowing it play in the 2020 League of Ireland First Division.
It also seeks injunctions preventing the FAI from excluding it from the League of Ireland, and that the FAI is restrained from allocating any of the club's assets, including its underage academy, to any other party.
It further seeks injunctions preventing the FAI from granting a licence allowing any third party to play in the 2020 First Division instead of Limerick until the FAI has complied with its obligations under the association's rules and regulations.
The court previously heard that in correspondence with the club the FAI said it never stated that it was unwilling to allow Limerick FC to apply for a licence.
The FAI said that the club had not provided it with information it requires before a licence can be granted before the required deadlines had expired.
However, the club says the deadlines were only missed due to certain "illegitimate demands" made by the FAI.
    From the Limerick Leader.

If Limerick FC do go back in what on earth happens? Would this mean that Shamrock Rovers II will have to stay in also?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

I'd say that Rovers would defer their application to keep things sensible. To go to the courts again if by some miracle Limerick to get a licence would be a step too far even by LoI standards.

The court will throw out the one "preventing 3rd parties joining the league"
its nothing to do with Limerick if the FAI want to appoint 1 2 or 3 other teams to the league.
Rovers applied before Limerick went bust, no connection.

Limerick FC announces investment and publicly calls for united front on the
    future of Limerick Soccer
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Limerick FC has confirmed a future investment into Limerick FC of €500,000 from
international investors to be invested over a three year period to secure the future of
Limerick Senior, Ladies and Underage soccer.

A large part of the investment is ring fenced for underage soccer. Limerick FC is
eager to involve the newly formed group using the name Limerick United to join
together in the best interests of underage soccer in Limerick.

It has not been possible to enter a meaningful dialogue with Conn Murray, the
Interim Chairman of the new group by the Investors, representative and Pat O’Sullivan, Chairman of Limerick FC, despite repeated requests.

On the basis of legal advice provided to Mr Murray, he has refused to engage whilst High Court
proceedings against the FAI are ongoing.
    Unfortunately, Mr Murray refused to
identify the new group’s Solicitors to the Investor’s Representative.

Limerick FC is eager to establish a football structure which incorporates the best
soccer talent, players and coaches, in Limerick and the surrounding regions. The
new investment obtained by Limerick FC will ensure that the Limerick academy is
properly financed for years to come.

Limerick FC is willing to amalgamate with the new group to ensure the future of
Limerick Soccer, Senior, Ladies and Underage.

Further, as a mark of goodwill to its county men and fellow football supporters,
Limerick FC is also agreeable to the recently announced group members, including
Conn Murray, Interim Chairman, and any coaches appointed by them to remain in
place subject to FAI requirements regarding qualifications, Garda vetting etc.
The role of Chairman of Limerick FC Pat O’Sullivan can be addressed as part of any talks.

Chairman of Limerick FC Pat O’Sullivan wishes to express his sincere hope that in
the best interests of Limerick football, Senior, Ladies and Underage, the football
people of Limerick work together to secure the investment and the future success of
    Limerick football.

Hard to know what to say to this. 500k over 3 years is a pittance in terms of running a professional outfit. Good news I suppose to have a senior limerick team

Seems to me the easiest thing to do is for Shamrock Rovers to ditch the II team and just loan Limerick 20 players.

I mean you got to give PO’S credit for boxing smart. It’s very unclear where this ends up a lot uncleared than it was a week ago. But any limerick side with a license is better than no limerick side with a license maybe ?

O'Sullivan is really hanging in there. 500k from 'international investors' is well spun by the PR guru. I think PO'S is looking to save face at this rather than looking for too much of his money back. Foolish pride!?

Alleged irregular betting patterns you mean, an investigation was launched and or appears to have gone nowhere. I have always suspected that the FAI indulged the match fixing thing in the LOI in order to push their 'problem child' agenda which deflected from the truth of the dysfunctional parent.

Can someone explain to me how a €500,000 investment over 3 years rescues an entity that failed to exit examinership due to debts of €490,000? Am a bit lost as to how the entity is even there to apply for a license TBH.

I suppose if someone came in and cleared all its debts before it entered liquidation - which doesn't appear to have happened yet - then the club could avoid that fate.

Then logically, if it was never liquidated, it should have the right to apply to retain its licence - which is consistent with what the courts found.

How they avoid just racking up debts again through 2020 is another question. Licensing either decides they can't, and kicks them out a la Bury, or looks the other way, a la FAI licensing

  21. Thanks From:
