But if they revoked the offer now, couldn't Sham also go the legal route? Unless it is laid down in black and white somewhere that the FD has to be ten clubs, they could claim they are being treated unfairly by being asked to give way. As stated, they've broken no rules, and are presumably budgeting for a B side to exist.

Provisional fixture list released, a Shield makes up the first 6 weeks of the season, then the 20 games.

The whole thing may well be scrapped anyway, but just one small point - does anybody else think that Rovers II should be the club with no fixture on the final day of the season, seeing as they wouldn't be promoted anyway?

There seems to be no shield final...it just finishes and goes straight into league games.

Why could the loi not have a first division cup like that they did in the 02/03 shortened season when Harps beat Kildare Co in the Final. This takes the biscuit!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Fixtures of Shield make it seem like it was a real rush job.

Only way I can think it make it worthwhile would be to give the winner a promotion spot, or a play-off berth.

Would be a great incentive if the final was to be played in the Aviva as a curtain raiser to the FAI cup final. (subject to the shield finalists not being in the FAI cup final).
I assume they haven't put a date in as they were rushing to get these fixtures out to get POS lawyers off their backs and could'nt get the logistices sorted.

Would they really do the Shield group games before the season started, and then do the final at the end?

Also when was the draw for this Shield?

That's because they expect the Shield winners will get decided in the Courts.

TBH All these fixtures are provisional as i cant see Limerick getting a Licence, it will be a 10 team 27 game league with no shield
I do like the idea of a first division cup though.
Thinking about it the first division is finished way before the cup final so a mid season final would make more sense.

Way back - in the one division era - they tried the Shield (two rounds of matches) first half before the League and second half after. Didn't boost attendances, though ...

That's just tempting fate. I can see the 2022 headline now: One More Broken Treaty for Limerick. Don't feed the pun-merchants, hey?
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!
