Ports hacked their way through the first half with impunity, were given an outrageous lifeline by the lino (what was she thinking of?) scored a neat but quite lucky goal against the run, packed their own box and were saved by a brilliant goalkeeping performance.
If there's any justice, Linfield will turn Shels over, but of course that's highly unlikely given the shocking choice of venue and the pattern of refereeing so far.
Mind your own f*cking buisness you jelous little man.As always a Bohs fan sh*t stirring.

Btw Whats with all the Cork bashing from other Shels fans.I'm not trying to be funny but they tried their best and failed,I'm sure they will have another chance next year now lets be humble in victory.

Unlucky Cork, good effort and better luck next time.

You have to love the incredible bitterness from Bohs fans. Last year a few of their fans skipped their last match of the season to come cheer for Pats against us, how did that one go for you lads?

    Thank you Portadown !

I really start to like those guys... First they give me a delightful afternoon in Windsor Park for my first match in the North (cup final with me in the audience ; though part of the credit goes to the very fair Larne fans), now this... Only a pity we were refused access to the Ports social club when we went up, and that after a PFC fan came on our boards to talk our minds wild about their -according to him- class serving girl

I expect a very nice game between two good sides Saturday. Though one remark which I already made in advance, and us making the final doesn't make me change that opinion: the choice of venue is not fair towards Linfield. I hope we win, but will have a bit of a feeling that we were advantaged, and I do prefer a win where both teams started with equal chances. Admit, if we win Linfield will anyway start to complain about our home advantage, and this time I can't even disagree with the opposition's complaints.

In a crossborder competition like this, a two-legged final with one game in the ROI and one in NI was the only fair solution. Certainly now with Shels and Linfield in the final, why not one leg in Tolka and one in Windsor Park ? Both venues are excellent. I think Setanta made a big mistake with only one final, and can only hope Linfield will get a decent amount of tickets.

My not being welcome is of course precisely why I'm making the blazingly simple case for a fair game at a neutral venue. I know it's probably too late to change now, but I think that in future more thought would go into this rather significant decision. When we qualify next year we won't expect to play the final at Dalyer.
Incidentally, I don't know where you Shels chaps get this bitterness mullarkey from. Maybe bitterness in your book = not agreeing enough. I'm speaking as a neutral here!
And if you want the rest of Irish football fandom to mind their own business, perhaps you should post your discussion in the Shels section, where no doubt no one will challenge your rather cossetted world view. I know you think you own everything, but you should be aware that this is a temporary aberration.

PS: did anyone else hear Shels being described in last night's broadcast as a 'north Dublin club'. Begs the question: which is more important -- geography or history? Discuss.

I'd equate bitterness to skipping Bohs last game of the season JUST to cheer against Shels in our bid to win two in a row, or did they just want to know what that looked like? And at times almost dedicating gypoweb to being a Shelbourne/Shamrock Rovers discussion board, but not agreeing with me enough is probably a good definition anyway

Well, you obviously have been spending some time lurking there yourself. Was it vanity?
Yes, there was some agonising for a while as to whether Shels were the new Rovers, but the discussion settled on the more or less consensual opinion that Rovers were the new Rovers. Kind of a back-back-handed compliment, formed of the opinion that Shels were not worthy of the honour.

Not the rest of Irish football just you,I'd even welcome other Bohs fans to join in providing their not a sh*t stirrer like you and by the way what's your previous experience as a fan in the Setanta cup.

Shelbourne play north of the River Liffey.......therefore they are a north Dublin club.C'mon it doesn't take a genius.

ehh... between 7500-8000, more than enough for a game like this.

Its a total joke that Setanta are giving Shels home advantage, it really belittles the whole competition.

The issue with Dollymount isn't the seats it's the state of the pitch, though I understand that has improved recently.

$hel$ vs Linfield in the final, the blues are 3-0 up at half time against glens. Who the best of two evils is in this case I really do not know.

D2. You clearly are incapable of discussing this without your righteous anger getting the better of you and resorting to personal insult and abuse. If you want to roar a few choice ones at me from the lego stand, I can't really object: that's football and you'll get yours back in spades, because we bring more to Tolka than you do. Sticks and stones.
But I don't think it is acceptable for a forum where we're supposed to be having reasoned debate. I seem to recall you having problems in the emotional incontinence department before.
For the record, I don't consider it ****-stirring to point out the unfairness of the venue of what is now being described as the 'All-Ireland'. This was an issue which was raised on national radio this morning.
If you have any serious arguments on this or other matters relevant to this thread or board, I and I'm sure others would be interested to hear them, provided you can do it without having a tantrum each time.

I take it the venue was decided a long time ago ? So I take it all the arrangements where made with several meetings between the people that run match day at Tolka, the Garda, the FAI, the IFA, Security. Then theres Setanta who will bring a decent amount of cameras to the game. All in all a fair amount of effort probably went into the planning of the Final.

Do people seriously think you can up stick and move an event and rearrange plans just 5 days prior to the event ?

It was either Tolka or a deserted Lansdowne which would look terrible if they wanted to have it in the south, or Windsor if they wanted it up north which would have the same problem and will have the same problem when they do there next year. Dollymounts pitch was, last time I saw it, an embarassment otherwise it could have been used.

what the **** is that suppose to mean? i saw no protest; i just read early that a few people were giving lennox abuse outside the horseshoe. i dont pass the horseshoe on my way out, and from what ive read about the protest, the worst thing about it was there was some personal abuse to saint brian. besides, i doubt that that protest was televised, was it?

Doubt it had anything to do with the state of the pitch. I think its more the fact that Tolka is seen as the best stadium in Ireland at present, with Turners Cross 2nd, with 3rd maybe Dayler. Its a showcase final with what will probably be a large TV audience. Not point having some 3rd rate ground when you can get something thats probably the best
