Scott Hogan going on loan to Birmingham for the rest of the season. He's still technically an Aston Villa player.
Overall a satisfactory transfer window for Ireland. Afolabi, O’Connor (has been good in the 2 games so far with Thistle), Coventry, Elbouzedi, Ronan all getting “okay” loan moves, up to them to prove themselves now.
Parrott remains at Spurs as only fit striker, he will get a chance in coming weeks, not overly concerned yet. Idah back playing U23s today, disappointing he wasn’t allowed on loan, but he will get a few more chances this season. The emergence of Masterson and O’Shea has been great, they should continue to develop nicely. It is only a matter of time before Collins replaces Lindsay, who was woeful again tonight, I suffered through 75 minutes before all the subs were used and there was no Knight or Collins.
The biggest disappointments for me were Luca Connell and our goalkeepers. I’m still unclear what happened Luca as was reportedly on his way to Sunderland. It would have been great if he had a run of games at only 18, I was hopeful a Scottish champ team might come on as the transfer window shuts an hour later, but obviously his agent/advisors aren’t that clued in. Our goalkeepers failed to get out on loan. Travers will now train and maybe play the odd under 21 game for Bournemouth. Not sure who’s advising Kelleher, but it’s damning on Liverpool to hold onto him so he plays for their youth team in FA Cup. I hope he secured some promises as part of staying, like staying as number 1 for FA cup as a minimum. And I would have pushed for guarantees for first team starts once Liverpool have title secure, but sincerely doubt that will happen. He’s basically lost a year of his career and will have to put in a year like Grabara on loan next season, and he will be lucky to find a championship team like Grabara did. Kilkenny also disappointing, with Howe under immense pressure not sure if he’ll get much of a look in. With Dobre just sold, and Fraser inevitably leaving in summer, perhaps Howe plans on introducing him in coming weeks, so made him stay. Smallbone was linked with gillingham, but nothing materialized, again this guy really needed a loan.
Overall, good loan window for us. Just a disappointing end with Connell and our keepers not heading out for first team action. Parrott will be okay, to me he looks like a generational talent and will be fine once he keeps focused and remains injury free
January 2020 Transfer Window summary: 20 transfers, 20 loans, 7 new contracts, 2 players released, 1 new manager: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Blog...62993962187222
Ryan Nolan on loan to AS Giana, second from bottom in same division Arezzo are in. Hopefully he can start all the remaining games, still only 20. Looking increasingly unlikely he’ll be good enough for irish senior team.
Whilst Collins, Masterson and O'Shea play in the Championship. There were people crying out for Nolan's inclusion at times. These have been quelled.
I hope he does come good though. Plenty time there for a centre back.
He should certainly have been assessed properly in person in the underage set up based on his pedigree alone (and multiple country qualification) in case he developed into something special, only made a friendly squad or two, never a competitive squad in any underage group. Perhaps he really did make an awful impression during his brief cameo at 17 and the irish underage management ignorance of him is ultimately vindicated
Interesting one here. Anthony Scully has joined Lincoln permanently on an 18 month deal.
Ireland underage international leaves West Ham for League One side https://the42.ie/4991075
Is that possibly bad news for Elbouzedi?
It looks like Lincoln play a 4-4-2 and Scully has been playing as a striker mostly and Elbouzedi started for them on the right wing at the weekend.
So, yeah, possible but not that likely.
Callum Thompson released from Wolves a few weeks ago: https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/2...act-extension/
Aiden O'Brien released by Millwall. He has been there 10 years and hasn't done it for them really at Championship level. Not sure how good he can be and he is now 26. It will be interesting to see it he can get a Championship club. League One or SPL may be more likely now.
Danny Rogers has signed a one year deal with Kilarmarnock.
It doesn't look like they have any established keeper on the books there. They had one on loan from Juventus last season and he was first choice. Another keeper played second fiddle but was only on a one year deal. Neither has re-signed thus far.
Potential for Rogers to be number one unless someone comes in before the league there starts this weekend.
David Moyes (Hammers) has been looking at Ryan Manning, according to the Evening Standard web page (28 July).
Gone to Sunderland which isn't the worse move.

Aiden O'Brien was on about going abroad too before signing for Sunderland. For a Londoner, Sunderland is probably foreign.
