https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/moha...ers-in-austria strong looking squad. Great to see okoflex commit. The arrival of noss, oko flex and cannon adds alot to us in areas we needed given that knight, idah, connell and parrott have moved up. Bit surprised bazuna not there as he not in the 21s and these fixtures are in the same window.
Lads like mceneff and ferry are injured I think lovely to see everitt just back from injury.

Bazunu seems to have been completely excluded, which is really strange
And there was this from the U21 squad announcement earlier in the week - https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/irel...den-qualifiers
Gavin Bazunu will link up with the Republic of Ireland U-19 squad ahead of their UEFA qualifying round matches this month.
Austria and Switzerland seems a tough group for this early stage
He played in the UEFA Youth League as well during the week.
It is possible that they've asked to keep him in Manchester, and it might explain the lateness of the squad announcement - it was originally due yesterday
can a club refuse a call up for a player for underage competitive games?
Noss scored Boussia Mönchengladbach U19 second, and assisted their third, in a 3-1 win over Viktoria Koln: https://www.borussia.de/de/aktuelles...ilansicht.html
(via google translate)
think that last bit means the third goal decided the tie!Conor Noss succeeded in the 63rd minute after a good attack through the center. Just six minutes later, Tom Gaal, who headed in from a corner of Noß, had already made the decision.
This morning's qualifier against Switzerland has had to be postponed due to snow!
The game is rescheduled for tomorrow, but that means a shorter recovery time for the players before Saturday's game against Gibraltar
The decision must have been made very late - the teams for both sides had been announced on uefa.com: https://www.uefa.com/under19/match/2...ic-of-ireland/
Strong looking side for Ireland, not sure if Ebosele really was starting at full back though
in fairness, if you're going to play 3 games in a week in November, you're best avoiding hosting them in either Austria or Switzerland. Obviously Gibraltar isn't really a runner, given their lack of suitable pitches.
i guess Festy was due to play at right back, especially if he's wearing 2. The wingers look like Matty Everitt and Okoflex. Asking a lot of Festy. He's a cracking dribbler, powerful and intelligent but I'm not sure I'd trust him defending a ball over his head into the channel.
Surprised Bowden didn't start as well...
The squad is loaded with centre-halves and deathly sparse on full-backs. Dunno why Tom Gaston wasn't involved. Thought he was excellent when he played in the elite phase of last year's tournament. Really composed and intelligent footballer.

Ebosele seems to be playing full back a bit at derby this season. Surprised Richard's not left full I though the arsenal lad was mainly a centre half. Hard to see how it would be a back 5 either unless okoflex was going to be the other full back
McEntee has given us an early lead - https://www.uefa.com/under19/match/2...ic-of-ireland/
1-1 :/
and Ogungbo sent off
Losing 2-1 now.
Austria are 14-0 up on Gibraltar: https://www.uefa.com/under19/match/2...-vs-gibraltar/
2-1 down now. In the other group game Austria are 14-0 up. They scored 7 goals in 12 minutes between the 72nd and 84th minutes. 53 goal attempts.
Tallaght Stadium Regular
weirdly it remained 0-0 for the first 20 minutes.
Its a riduculously tough group for the top seeds in the group. Compared to the other groups its a bit of a joke. (The gibaltar reuslts will be discounted in the final standings). Have to beat Austria to have any chance now. Finishing second will be a good result now. A few shock winners of other groups and a big gun could be avoided in the elites. Austria will be tough.
This always had the makings of a rough first round group
