Tadhg Ryan signs for Waterford from Cork. Good signing for us. Improvement on the goal keeping position for us imo. Ryan was actually a player I had hoped we would sign.

Things starting to look a lot more positive now. You can sense the positivity and excitement among fans is building. Four excellent signings so far. Things are starting to fall into place now, plenty of rumors flying around too. Despite the two months of uncertainty, we may actually start the season better equipped then last season.

If this is the same keeper, and I think it is, that stood in for McNulty in our1-0 win game in oriel park last season, he had a great game, was really impressed with him.

Wouldn’t have said we were looking great. Lost Romeo, Leverock, Twardek and Fordyce from what was probably our starting team last season and they haven’t all been replaced.

Whats going on with Cork, McGlade & Galvin are First Division players & keeping McNulty over Ryan? Doesn't look great

Mcglade is capable of playing premier but needs a manager to put manners on him.

McGlade was a bit of an indulgence in first division so whether he would do enough for you to carry him in Premier division is seriously questionable. I would have thought Dean Byrne was the Longford forward who looked most suited for a step up

I remember an interview he gave when he said that his current manager knew his strengths and didn't expect him to track runners or get back. With that attitude he won't make it in the prem but if a manager kicks his arse hard enough he could be excellent

I like Galvin from what I've seen of him, seems a decent player. McGlade is talented but I think he'll flatter to deceive at PD level. Still and all it's shaping up to be an entertaining Cork side which will be a bit of a change for them.

Talk of us signing Michael O'Connor, which would be...interesting.

There’s a player in OConnor, he’s got bags of potential. If he doesn’t start showing it soon it’ll ruin his career. I’d like to see him back with us for the season

Fenn being his manager at the time. I'd question if he can score enough in the Premier to justify that but he is definitely talented.

That would have being Neale Fenn with us. McGlade an awful self indulgent player for us.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

I really liked O'Connor at Waterford, I'm not sure how prolific he will be but a really good striker with his back to goal if only playing one striker, he would make forward line better.

As an aside, is the 20 goal striker a misguided target in a modern 451/433 formation, Hoban clearly wasn't prolific last season but great at linking things together, you could the same to a degree with Greene at Rovers

That's too harsh in fairness. He was our best player in his last season, albeit with the team being built around him more or less.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

I'd imagine they are trying to cut their wage bill in an attempt to keep this modest for a season or so, seems most of the higher paid players have already left, and those coming in are less profile. Def the correct thing to do if you want to stabilise and work on reducing the debt a little.

I cant see Ryan being on a whole lot and would have been a better longer term option than an aging McNulty. McNulty as back up on a new reduced contract would have made sense, unless Fenn has other options in mind for 'keeper!?

We've already signed Liam Bossin. I'd imagine he'll be #1.
