There is already a scaling back on admin costs with the dispensing of the Chief Executive position, which looks like it will not be filled with an external appointment.

Maybe the spare cash will be used for a 30 goal striker in the hope that Euro qualification can still happen without Mark Devlin and Mike Treacy😂

Would have assumed CEO position is now funding an executive chair position. In my experience guys at his level like having people to do things for them, q a COO and marketing person.
Doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things money isn't an issue

On the Rovers thing, Byrne is staying for 2020 unless he's bought out of his contract in the January transfer period. No talk of any Rovers signings so far.
Fans' wishful thinking or head buried in the sand denial?? My thinking on the comings and goings at Oriel - money spent on decent calibre CEOs. They didnt make an impact either because they couldnt or they werent trying. Peak6 tried twice to make the position work but 2nd time the fit wasnt good with issues with local media and long term boaard members resigning,. Bill Hulsizer arrives the problem is removed and the board of the last 8 years is restored. With a GM in place all this time under a CEO the non appointment of a CEO especially with an Executive Chairman will minimise the need for a CEO, save that cost potentially, and remove what seemed to be an ineffective or what Peak6 determined, an underperforming role.

While not impossible down the line but to see a 'standard LOI drastic situation' as imminent is grasping at straws. I know people are queuing up to say I told ye so but it'll be a few more seasons yet before the there will be an opportunity to gloat!

I'd say the reason the outside CEO's failed was as much down to them not realising that the loi is such a hard sell commercially compared to even small English clubs. An early reality check which was probably also a bit of a surprise for peak6.

The last CEO made a fair few mistakes, fell out with a respected local journo in one of the local papers, nonsense stuff really, also lack of knowledge in too many local / national items, and certainly a fair point sbgawa on a hard sell v championship in UK. A major gaffe was making a statement saying DFC will work with Louth GAA in their 'new stadium' with an eye on euro games, like that was ever going to happen. The umbro deal was also mentioned in some quarters as another reason he left, not sure exact detail in that, could be lenght of contract, cost, and maybe even style of the top with all the red ! Not sure the Shields disaster missing the cup final was his remit but was under his watch.

The new incoming chairman was at a good few games last season, and at the time of the Hoban new deal that was announced, took months to agree and looked dead, he was mentioned as having played critical
    part.

Anyway, happy new year to all LOI fans, putting rivalaries aside, after the FAI mess, we really underestimate how much we all play in keeping Irish football going, remember the avg GAA county fan goes to probably 3-5 big games a year, most on here go to 15/18 home games and a plenty of away matches too, I'd say my rough count of attending 25 games last year was equaled by most on here.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

I know what yer saying but I dont think it is an impossible sell but obviously a tougher market than some lower league clubs in England without other sports vying for a lot of the same punters. I think there were a few very basic issues that cropped up that zero knowledge of the league wouldnt have made much difference. From the outside looking in the personality didnt seem to be a fit - in some situations that's not a bad thing when trying to professionalise things but when other very professional and key members of a board walk away the good obviously outweighs the bad. LoI certainly has its quirks and is probably frustrating for a outside admin person, but if some of the issues doing the rounds are true from Liverpool to Chorley problems would arise. After 2 CEOs now the decision must have been made to delegate from within. I'd also be surprised if Peak6 didnt know exactly what they were up against. The resources behind them possibly meant that they feared less about the financial stick clubs got beaten with for any dissent. Could even be where the start of the end for the FAI cronies was. Would a club have outright rejected a payment plan for prizemoney if financially powerless to fight such circumstances - the legal fees would have eroded a good chunk of money if going to war with the old FAI regime and the risk may not have been taken!?

Anyway Happy New Year to all. Lets hope that 2020 will be remembered as the year that the FAI truly changes for the better and the start of LoI thriving!!

    Now off to the pub!

He's best at rb, he can do a good job in midfield but is far superior at rb.

I would say with ft training you'll have a very good player on your hands.

I was hoping the blues would have got him but we signed ethan Boyle off rovers.

Was there a fee, presuming he was under contract?

Details not disclosed, but presumably a "financial deal" means a fee of some description. It's the nature of these things that if the fee is modest, it allows the player negotiate a more substantial signing-on fee

“The Board has negotiated a sensible and acceptable financial deal with Shamrock Rovers given that we were faced with losing the player for nothing this summer” explains chairman Adrian Teer.

Romeo Parkes has left us to play in America for a year for personal reasons. A huge loss.

In 2009 we got to the FAI cup semi losing to Sligo and then lost a home league cup final to Bohs.
