It really would be interesting to see what a year or even a few months of regular football could do for him. Assuming there has to be plenty of ability there or Liverpool wouldn’t continue to have him around they are the ones who see him every day.

A goalkeeper at that age could develop and mature pretty rapidly given the game time you would think.

Will Kelleher and Lonergan get a medal when Liverpool eventually win the league?

if memory serves you need a certain amount of appearancesto get a medal ( didn’t Wengar play the reserve keeper in the last match of theseason as he needed that game to get a medal) walker was his name Ithink

That used to be the case, was it changed so that anyone who was named in the premier league squad got one?
Phil Foden got a medal in 2017/18 and he only made five appearances

    As per google
"By the book, a player has to make 5 league appearances in order to be eligible for an EPL medal. However, exceptions are always made on a discretionary basis. A club can request exemption and order a medal if it wants any additional medals for some squad members."

I think Dion Dublin got a Premier League medal for Man U at the discretion of the FA because he'd broken his leg. Think you may have had to make 10 appearances back then though.

Another chance for Kelleher to impress? Klopp will rest his entire first-team squad for the FA Cup Replay against Shrewsbury, as it falls in the Premier League break: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020...fa-cup-replay/

He's nearly here. Nearly there for a clean sheet!

Shrewsbury had no shots on target but he'll take it! They did put one past him but it was disallowed for an offside in the build up.

Don't know how significant this is, but Kelleher came on as second-half sub in Liverpool's 6-0 friendly win over Blackburn: https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fir...iendly-anfield

Not a lot of Kelleher in the highlights:

I guess it means that Adrian is injured.

Darragh Lenihan played (yellow boots) and I think it gave an indication to his limitations and maybe why he isn’t playing Premier League. Everyone I know who watches the championship regularly is a massive fan of his. His few ireland games have been very poor, particularly against Northern Ireland.

His distribution is clearly excellent (see long ball at 5-0) but he’s also vulnerable to giving the ball away in his own third (also see 5-0)

None of the goals were his fault, but I think Egan and Duffy would have won the header with Mane at 2-0. Also maybe could have handled Mane a little better at 3-0. Also possibly the corner for 5-0 was avoidable. 6-0 doesn’t look great either but it happens...

Or, given his performance the last time he played, he's not trusted anymore.

Doesn’t strike me at all a how Klopp would handle things, especially for a back up keeper who probably won’t play at all. He could easily move Adrian on in the summer and keep Karius as a No.2 but even if he’s lost faith, I can’t see him dropping him from the bench before then. He just has too much respect for senior players and it’d be an unnecessary slap in the face for Adrian.

Andy Lonergan hails Kelleher as a "brilliant keeper" but says he needs to go out on loan: https://www.the42.ie/lonergan-lauds-...67018-Aug2020/

Totally agree, particularly with Kamil Grabara coming back from a season at Huddersfield and half a season in the Danish Superliga - Kelleher needs to get out now and get a bunch of games under his belt before he becomes a talented bench-warmer

Grabara is a few months younger than Kelleher and now has a year of Championship football under his belt.

He turns 22 in a few months, he desperately needs a loan. I haven't really been impressed by him but he hasn't gotten a run of games either. Bazunu is nearly 4 years younger than him so it'll be interesting to see who gets the nod for the next 21s game when they're both fit.
