Absolute collapse in the first half against Slovenia. 1-0 down after three minutes, three down at half time.
Kyra Carusa is anonymous up front. Barrett is dropping deep and there's nobody up front. Ruesha Littlejohn is unattached, hasn't played in two months, and she's started both games
O'Sullivan and Carusa haven't played since the play off against Wales, and both started both games.
Big deal made about recruiting Filis, but she hasn't played a minute so far
Manager will face some questions after this.
As ever, if they were half as good at football as they are at having their voices heard off the field, they'd be a great team.
Maybe Vera Pauw was a lot better that she was given credit for ? !
Well, that's a ridiculously snide remark. When the women's team threatened to go on strike, they were being treated shockingly badly by the FAI.
Since then, they've done themselves proud by qualifying for the World cup and have fully justified the extra investment by playing in front of big crowds. And hopefully this team has laid the foundation for future generations of girls to take the game up and improve the team further
Only to then promptly turf out the woman that got them to the World Cup, claiming she was holding them back. A move that is making them look frankly ridiculous now following a Euros playoff failure against a very limited Welsh team and a hammering against Slovenia.
It's time for a few of them to take a look in the mirror and address the issues they've caused themselves, before they continue their ongoing crusade against everyone else that seems to be upsetting them.
Letting Vera Pauw go was, right or wrong, the FAI's decision - and they have plenty of history on the men's side of firing managers that they, the players and/or the fans thought were holding us back, only for their solutions to waste a significant portion of the international careers of some of our brightest talents. And it's hardly ridiculous that they had one bad defeat or lost a play-off, given the men's team's history in play-offs, and especially as they are still in the race to get promotion to League A
What are you talking about?? Their campaign for better treatment was seven years ago and lasted a week. What's this "ongoing crusade" that's upsetting you so much? Maybe they're not the ones who need to look in the mirror.
Although a couple of improved performances would be nice.
Look, the FAI were clearly slow to the party in terms of Women's Football, so we don't yet have the depth to compete at the elite level, but what this team has achieved, in spite of that, will hopefully lay the foundations for better teams to come, both in terms of inspiring girls to take up the sport and providing a steady revenue stream to the FAI, which can be used to train the women's stars of the future (the usual caveats about the FAI's use/abuse of resources do apply here)

4-0 win in Greece, wipes out the goal difference after the loss in Slovenia, with the return game against Greece on Tuesday.
Ireland a little nervous in the first half, didn't create a lot of chances, but neither did Greece. Whatever was said at half time worked, Greece suffered a complete collapse. First goal took a deflection which made it difficult for the goalkeeper, second goal broke them, and the third and fourth goals were well deserved. Play like this and Tuesday should be straightforward.
Slovenia beat Turkey 3-0, so it looking that the final group game in Cork against Slovenia will decide first and second
Got out of jail with that result against Turkiye.
Struggled to create clear cut chances, the two goals were an OG and a bad mistake by the centre half
Slovenia will come to Cork with no fear next week, and after the 4-0 result in February, it will take a real shocking performance from them to not finish first
Much improved performance in the last game of the group against Slovakia. After the 4-0 loss away to the same side, second was probably as good as we could have hoped for
Draw for the promotion play offs is on Friday, we're unseeded and will face one of Austria, Iceland, Belgium, and Denmark
Promotion play off draw is today at 12

Drawn Belgium in the Promotion/relegation play offs. They finished third in their group, behind Spain and England, and ahead of Portugal. Beat England and Portugal, but lost their other four games
I know it's a few months away(October) but I really don't see us getting promoted
it's taken a while but Ireland look to be on the way up again after that shoddy loss to Wales, however Belgium do look to be in a class well above.
Of the league B hopefuls, I'd say Czechia drawn against Austriahave the best chance.
As for the northern girls in green, they should just throw the towel in now.
The Wales result will haunt them.. they needed to build on the WC qualification
