Oh my god, you’re so upset! Chill, buddy, chill. It’s ok.
You rolled over and let Crafty tickle your belly so I can only assume given how angry you are at me, and the recent comments about “my” forum revitalization, that it is for some reason personal. For everyone’s sake, I’ll just bow out here. Have a good one!
classic off season squabbles. roll on the England game.
A pathetic embrace of reverse psychology. I’m angry at no one and certainly not CTP. Your comment there is just wrong. My crime here is offering an opinion about Gavin Bazunu which offends you. That, Mr SkStu, makes it neither offensive nor arrogant. Good luck with your magnum opus. Can’t wait. Would you like me to pen a foreword?
Lads stop. Please, everyone.
I think there have been misunderstandings, but continuing this doesn't go anywhere good. Its better if everyone just lets it be. It's done, surely ? There was a scrap & now there'll be pints. It's pints time.
Just on the point of Bazunu having never done anything beyond L1, he’s actually done pretty well in international football.
Burnley look to be selling James Trafford to Newcastle. Could be a perfect spot for a loan move as nobody is paying thirty million for Kelleher.
There is some nonsense being spouted over the last few pages.
Bazunu is an incredibly talented goalkeeper with massive potential - he is only 21 and goalkeepers don't come into their prime until their late 20s. Now - his injury is a major problem - it is a very serious injury for a goalkeeper and he sustained the worst of that type of injury. It has the potential to impact on how he develops and what he achieves in the future - that is the unfortunate part of football - an injury can completely derail a career. I am not saying that this will happen to Bazunu - but it is now a possibility.
Kelleher is also a very talented goalkeeper - despite his lack of playing time he has shown that he can step in and compete at an exceptionally high level. That is why Liverpool want £0m for him. The difference with Bazunu is that Kelleher is 25 and is much closer to reaching his ceiling. The reality is that he has played too well for his own good because it has inflated his value out of reach of most teams.
In relation to Ireland - and I made this point before - apart from Shay Given - Bazunu, Kelleher or Travers (and possibly even O'Leary) would have walked into any Irish team over the past 100 years. We are spoilt for choice - we do not have a goalkeeping problem - all the issues with the Irish team are outside the penalty area.
Interesting call. I’d agree with your Given selection. For runner-up, I believe Randolph flies below the radar. He may have been iffy with the ball at his feet, but the period covering his 40-plus caps was never a worry. I cannot remember him ever letting Ireland down. I have a few other comments about keepers past and present - I’ll PM you soon (if that’s ok).
Randolph was quality.
And David Forde never put a foot wrong either for Ireland. Disgrace that he was left out of the Euro 2016 squad.
We persisted with Shay Given way too long. He was a great keeper for Ireland for over a decade but we should have moved on when it was time.
I actually don't really recall being weak at goalkeeper in my lifetime and at times I think we were really strong. Mick Kearns was GK when I first started watching and despite being at Walsall did just fine. McDonagh was superb. Can't remember Paddy Roche much.
The weakest ones were late career Bonner and post-comeback Given. The less heralded guys like Peyton and Forde did just fine. Forde actually exceeded my expectations.
Guys like Keith Branagan can consider themselves very unlucky.
Late interest in Kelleher from Forest apparently.

Time for Kelleher to stop being Liverpool's loyal back up and start stamping his feet to get out of there when there's interest.
