    Seria A

Anyone folow the Italian League closely?Im a Samp fan but id have to say i have a bit of a gra for 'the Viola'.Goalfest this weekend. Not looking good for Fiorentina at second bottom. They spent heavily this year but it seems not too wisely.Dino Zoff has his work cut out.On the other hand Samp are in with a great chance of a Champions league spot.Is Zola finishing up with the Sardinians at the end of the season?

37000 thats some going.Id love to see Napoli climb the divisions like Fiorentina.Big club and the attendences can only indicate highly of the passion and loyalty of the fans. They wont get the same luck as fiorentina though.Fiorentina were in c2 two seaons ago and on winning that they were invited to play in an expanding Seria B.Is Maradona's young fella playing for them?

Gianfranco Zola according to one or two papers has accepted an offer to head up Chelsea's Academy next season so I take it that he is hanging up the boots at the end of this season for Cagliari !

Some legend. He will be sorely missed.Didnt do too badly for the Sardinians this season.Popped up with a few important goals. He wont recognise Chelsea when he returns.

I support Triestina and Venezia, both in Serie B currently.

Don't like Italian football in general. I don't like the system with 4 relegators every season.

I preferred it that way. They've changed to 20 teams with three down. It was more interesting for a neutral when there were 18 teams with four down and given the number of European places available in Italy the odds were that every team is playing for something right up to the last day of the season.

Disagree this time. A smaller and not-rich club going up from Serie B to Serie A will have huge difficulties in staying in Serie A if four teams go down ; I follow Venezia so I know what I'm talking about

diego aradona junior plays wiht napolis youths, but is all hype.poor kid has to live with the wight of the greatest footballer ever on his shoulders, hel never live up to the expectaitons his name will bring
napoli have always had huge support, even in the 60s and 70s when they were rubbish and bouncing between serie a and serie b, they were getting 50,000-60,000 on average.one year in the 60s they had the 2nd highest attendance in italy, even though they were playing in the 2nd division!
thers a website for european football statistics which has the attendances going back to the 1960s.www.european-football-statistics.co.uk

on a dubious technicality chievo could take that title though.the suburb of chievo has a popultaion of 3,500,the team average 10,000 in the bentegodi stadium (back in serie b they played in front of 1,500 i the 45,000 capacity stadium btw).thouhg if you take the town as being the whole of verona then the statistic is not as impressive

Going to be a tight last round of matches, next weekend. Looks like Fiorentina will go down, Parma or Bologna could well join them:-

    Team---------Pts

    Lecce--------43
    Reggina------43
    Lazio---------43
    Chievo-------42
    Brescia-------41
    Bologna------41
    Parma-------41
    Siena--------40
    Fiorentina----39
    **Atalanta--35*** - already relegated.

Goal diff doesnt count, if teams are equal there is a playoff.

Incidently Roma, up in 8th place, only have 44 points - mathmatically safe, but just goes to show how tight the table is.
