    Discover Ireland - LOI By Distance.

    An exciting Sunday for me, instead of doing something productive, and seeing mentions of shortest distance (Sligo v Derry), and longest distance (Harps v Cork) mentioned a few times over the weekend, I wondered who really does the longest and shortest amounts of travel in the LOI.

    So, according to Google maps, from stadium to stadium, for the 2024 season;


    Premier Division:

    Bohemians:

    Total travel distance: 1,980.2km
    Shortest journey: Shelbourne (5km round trip)
    Longest journey: Derry City (476km round trip)

    Derry City:

    Total travel distance: 4,258km
    Shortest journey: Sligo Rovers (276km round trip)
    Longest journey: Waterford (804km round trip)

    Drogheda United:

    Total travel distance: 2,153.6km
    Shortest journey: Dundalk (72.8km round trip)
    Longest journey: Galway United (436km round trip)

    Dundalk:

    Total travel distance: 2,402.6km
    Shortest journey: Drogheda United (72.8km round trip)

    Galway United:

    Echo Buckett's appreciation for doing the hard yards here - can't be much between Treaty and Cork for Kerry's shortest trip, when both would be roughly 70 miles in old money from Tralee, but in terms of the directness of the road, the Limerick route would definitely be quicker.

    MH Park to Turners Cross is a 249km round trip. Better journey now with the Macroom bypass.

    I laughed at Keith Tracey mentioning on the RTE soccer podcast that the travel for other teams to Donegal might be an advantage for us during the season ,like we teleport to away games or something!!!
    Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
