First place get automatically promoted Obviously and the second Place team play the Second Last team in the Premier.

Thats a joke it should be two automatically promoted and the third palce team in a playoff like before. It really disadvantages the first division

It's the FAI way of keeping the majority of Dublin and its hinterland clubs, in the premier division.

Not as much of a joke as the system that the Welsh Premiership & feeder leagues here operate!Would you believe that of all the clubs in the feeder leagues, only two wanted promotion, and only one of them finished in a positio high enough to be considered!Clubs claim that they aren't ready for promotion, structure & financial-wise!

    promotion/relegation

I think it should be two up two down, and third place in first plays off against
third bottom in premier over two legs or,
Top of first goes up autmatically, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in first play off against second bottom in premier, either of these two systems especially the latter would guaratee that the amount of meaningless end of season games would be cut dramatically.

The latter choice seems to make most sense. Since the first division is only 10 teams I don't think 2 up 2 down is fair. However the current structure could mean 3 or 4 clubs tops playing for anything come the business end of the season. I mean that's hardly fair on the weaker clubs like Ramblers, whose season will be over by the start of the new school year.
