Dunne - Man City player of the year

He was runner up to SWP last season but he beat him to it this season:
Ireland International defender RICHARD Dunne was last night, Tuesday, crowned Player of the Year by Manchester City's Official Supporters' Clubs.

But the 25-year-old Blues defender was not able to collect his trophy, as he is due in hospital today for a second ankle operation in a week.

Dunne, who has been a rock at the heart of the City rearguard this term, held off the strong challenge of Shaun Wright-Phillips to land the top prize.

thats great news for him, i think the rung is being held on a bit too tightly on that ladder by obrien. think dunnie deserves his chance and get a few competitive games under his belt, i really feel obrien is going to do a newcastle for ireland soon enough.

Fantastic news for Dunne, even after scoring an own goal for United at the City of Manchester Stadium, the fans still chanted his name!

He was born in Warrington, but has no international caps for any country - see here - http://www.footballtransfers.info/sq...?playerID=1480

that hasnt really answered my question or let me rephrase, can he play for ireland i.e. is he legitimately entitled to play for us.

I always assumed that he was. I didn't know he was London-born.

I assume the FAI would have done their work on Jordan, when Marney at Spurs played at senior level, they already had checked him out and knew he wasn't eligible.

That's not to say Jordan isn't, just I can't say for sure if he isn't

I was under the impression Jordan had no Irish connection.

It's a big achievement for Dunne though, especially considering the likes of SWP in the team.... And by all accounts Distin had a good season.

I hope Sean Thornton is taking stock of what can be acheived when you stop acting the maggot..

    Great news!!

I bought him at Leeds, in my Master League on play2... wonderful centre pair Staunton-Dunne
I'm 21, I'm italian, but I love Ireland, and I always support the irish national team!

They kept out Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert, Hasselbaink and Van Hooijdonk anyway.

I thought SWP was a shoe-in for the award at Man City. Well done Dunne.
