The loan window is another couple of weeks away.

Thanks Charlie. I'd be ok with Parrott dropping down to L1 or L2 to start getting goals. I remember Defoe years ago making his big breakthrough by banging a load of goals in while on loan in League 2

As far as I know there is no extension to the window for loans and domestic transfers in England this time in the way that there was after the summer window.

Parrott linked to a loan to Ipswich today. Would seem like a good move for all involved. Although I can't say I've seen a huge amount of Ipswich this season, hopefully they play a more suitable style for him than Millwall do.

Reading through the Ipswich forums wouldn't inspire you with confidence that he's going into a much better situation than the one he was in at Millwall in terms of chance creation and style of play. However, being a division down will hopefully at least see him be a first team regular and score a few goals. If he got a clean run in terms of injuries, scored five or six goals and contributed a few assists between now and May it probably wouldn't be a bad outcome for him. Ipswich could well still make the playoffs which would be a good experience for him.

Realistically I don't think he should be included in the Irish senior squad for March unless he is an absolute stand out at Ipswich. However a few more games with our under 21s could be good for him as well.

Maybe he’ll be like the Flying Dutchmen of yesteryear at Ipswich.

Bit of competition at Ipswich now for Aaron Drinan who had just scored his first league goal for them at the weekend.

Some comments from the Millwall manager regarding Parrott, good to hear positive reports on his commitment to training and improvement while at the club.

Been thinking about this today. There seems to be a feeling that this move is make or break for Parrott, I'd include myself for thinking that way, but realistically this is an 18 year old kid! How many 18 year olds do we think this way about. I know the expectations of him are so high from his underage career so we expect him to automatically be brilliant.

At Spurs he been used to being in good footballing sides who create plenty of chances, even underage for Ireland in recent years its been similar so it must have been a massive culture shock to go to Millwall where they create very little and hes stuck out on the wing most of the time. Confidence would have to take a hit there, and the early injury probably didnt help.

Hopefully the fresh start and lower standard of defenders will now kick start things for him, but again at 18 we probably should be a bit more realistic about him

Looks like he is in centre forward in his first game.

Subbed off after 70 minutes but it sounds like he played well.

A local journalist speaking well of him here:

Playing with more creative players like 'Judgey' will help him.

He set up a chance that Sears put in the net at 0-0 but Sears was offside, so sounds like he was heavily involved.

Gets a good write-up in the local press:

    Troy Parrott

The new signing was lively from the first minute, was full of running and looked a threat when trying to get in behind, moving wide or dropping deep to get the ball. He showed a good first touch and some clever movement in a debut which was certainly promising. We don’t give half marks but if we did he would probably be a 7.5. On this occasion it’s a 7

McGuinness and Judge getting high marks too.

You wrap the tweet's unique number in tweet tags. The one you were responding to was (tweet)1358091264869224449(/tweet), but you replace the brackets with square brackets. Click through on the tweet and look at the URL to find the number.

Highlights here of Parrott playing recently, specific to him in matches, Spurs following their loaned players I think

    V Hull - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0U7...ature=youtu.be

v Accrington last night where he was about to score surely, but did win a penalty & a red card for the opponent - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzYv...ature=youtu.be

Doing a lot of work deeper on the pitch, and although these are edited highlights obviously he has some nice play.

I'll preface this by saying he was playing as a wide forward for Millwall and he is a 10 for Ipswich and, whilst I watched him play full games for Millwall, I'm only watching these Ipswich highlights now. However, he looks much hungrier playing for Ipswich. As CTP says, a lot of good work deeper in the pitch. The Accrington Stanley highlights show him winning back a lot of ball. He looks so talented in those highlights, his control and passing etc. not impacted at all by a dodgy pitch. And he was so close to breaking his scoring duck.

A thread here on the Ipswich fans forum and posters seem to think he's done okay so far (in the face of some dubious criticism from a Spurs blog which links snippets from the wrong game) : https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/502037/...accrington/#17

I note his workrate was highlighted a lot in that thread. Glad to see that because he just didn't seem to care for Millwall in the 5 odd games I saw.
