It wasn’t just one or two, sadly there were a significant number of fans doing it. Over the past few years ive been to many games in England wearing an Ireland top (including one last weekend) and never heard any anti-Irish abuse. At the vast majority of the games ive been to there has been at least one Irishman on the field or bench etc, and again there has been no anti-Irish chants. Similarly when watching games on live TV involving Irish players (eg Sunderland, Wigan to name recent examples) ive not heard anything similar.
In my opinion what they were chanting and doing was close to crossing the line of racial abuse. Their chants were clearly audible and it certainly didn’t cast your club in a good light. I accept that there are many Man Utd fans who are decent people (and conversely there are sections of other teams fans who have bad attitudes too), but on that nights evidence there seemed to be a major anti-Irish problem.

I don't think we will have to worry about that for a long time, Arsenal and Chelsea will take the mantle for the next decade, you had your day (decade) in the sun, Man Ure will not win the premier again not under Slur Alex's reign anyway.Rafa's going nowhere and neither is Stevie G, when your in paradise why would you want to be anywhere else. The European Cup is coming back to its rightful home Anfield....................Originally Posted by Colm55

Thats the greastest load of mis-information thats come out of Liverpool getting to the final. No you don't get to keep the Cup if you win, if winning it 5 times meant you got to keep it, then Real Madrid and Milan would already have it correct?Originally Posted by Westside

if this is true, why has it taken 20 or so odd years to get to a final, surely if Anfield is the true home of the European cup, yous would be in the final/semi final every season ??Originally Posted by Westside

Step 1: Whoever wins the European Cup 5 times, or 3 times in a row, gets to keep the cup that they win on completing this achievement. Therefore, if Liverpool win in Istanbul, they will keep the European cup presented to them on the night.
Step 2: Now this is the important bit! When a club gets to keep the European Cup, A NEW EUROPEAN CUP IS COMMISSIONED. Imagine that!!! Crazy isn't it?! So, to spell it out for you, Real Madrid and AC Milan have both achieved this already, therefore this is the third European Cup on offer to clubs as Real and Milan have kept the first and second respectively.
So Liverpool fans are, perhaps, the most knowledgable fans in the world, while you have just shown up United fans to be amongst the most stupid![]()

It would actually be the 5th trophy commissioned if Liverpool win - Real Madrid, AC Milan (both 5 times), Ajax and Bayern Munich (both 3 in a row in the 70's).
This info is provided by a knowledgable Utd fan.![]()
Who cares whether it's the third or the fifth cup, the point was to explain that a new cup is commissioned when it is won by achieving 5 wins, or 3 in a row. 1 post from 'Armando'.....not at all suspicious![]()
Seeing as every Club that has won it, already has had a replica commisioned for their Trophy room, what is the point in being allowed to keep a replica of a replica?
But sure if it would make ye happy, why not![]()

Heinze, if that's the case, almost every major trophy in the world is a replica of a replica, as trophies and cups are replaced due to wear and tear. The FA Cup for example, has been replaced a few times. And Man Utd, the trophy bought by Malcolm Glazer, is soon to be a replica of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers....![]()
