A nice footballing team Grangevale , comfortable v Grattan B earlier in Mayfield. 3-0 when i went away presume they saw it out. ( Maybe Grattan were "short a few").

Short or not these game are used for fitness and have no bearing on how good a side is until the real thing gets going.
I think when ya start losing big during pre-season it can start having a negative impact on confidence and makes a big difference in teams starting off the season well or not.
Ya confidence is key. You'd want to be somewhat close to fitness and game plan at this stage with 2 weeks to go. Even with a friendly, you'd be happy for the week with a win and be ****ed off with a loss. Good when you win to focus on improving and keeping the positives going, a bad loss and you're starting with mostly negatives.
Looking forward to seeing what teams are like in 2 weeks, having seen a lot of teams around, some difference in where teams are at. Seen a Junior game and a Senior game this weekend, good to be back.
That I totally agree with.
On the other hand, playing poor opposition and winning easy can bite you when the serious stuff starts. Has to be a challenge to get good use from the friendlies or no point.
Those that have been there and done it will have ther jobs done and know what it takes coachford are the side to beat .
20mins left in Mayfield park, Leeds juniors 1-0 up . See the evergreen Alan Larkin and Dave Linehan down from the seniors with Leeds. No sign of Leeds goal machine Martin Cronin though. Few lads blowing hard now on the big pitch and pace of the game very slow.
Some of that Leeds team are overthehill in fairness just helping out.
I see on facebook Dunbar have now signed Jason Ford from Ringmahon Seniors,massive signing for them,certainly looks like they are getting things together out there with Babs o Connell in to do the Coaching as well hopefully the start of good things for them.

That would make any man nervous seeing that up here very irresponsible I must say.
Teams are signing quality and playing below standard teams in friendly s what that about talking to 1 or 2 guys last week there can't get games .but it's hard now with work and staycation s.

It will be a good advantage for Banteer, players must be delighted there.
